Eh, I've gotten used to removing WGA guys from puddle bases. That's not enough to dissuade me from their products. Yes, I agree the Baron's War models are a bit small but no too small for my needs.

I will likely get a box of the peasant levy guys.

Wow, those look lovely!

A few of you mention them being small, though. Anyone have photos of them compared to GW stuff handy? I'd be curious how much they will stand out.

Check page 14 for comparison with some models (no GW though), they are basically Frostgrave scale.

Here's my pic compared to OldHammer.

Thank you both! I already have the Fireforge Rabble models and love them, so these look perfect. I kind of prefer having the villagers/humans being a hair smaller than the warrior models.

Baron's War and kitbashing for Sludge and Trench Crusade are looking even better with these new kits.

Ah, men-at-arms and peasants! Good for Frostgrave and RPGs. Will hope that sprue vendors will carry them once they are released.

EDIT: Just noticed the archer giving a two-finger salute. The story behind that was the French would cut off the fore and middle fingers of English archers if captured so they could no longer draw the bow. So longbowmen would taunt the French by waving said fingers. Considering the triad of big English victories* due to the longbow this was not an empty taunt.

* Crecy, Poitiers, and Agincourt. Agincourt is more famous thanks to Shakespeare, but at Poitiers the French king and one of his sons were captured as well as 2000-3500 knights, all of whom were held for ransom.

Besides the mounted knights, wasn't there another kit announced for Baron's War? I know we have already got the foot knights plus these 2 new ones.

A popular story, but one without basis in historical record. The gesture is never described to have been made around this time as far as I'm aware, and the French would cut of 3, not 2, fingers (if not killing the captured peasants outright), making this legendary origin unlikely.

Anyway, great looking minis. The rabble are equally suitable as angry peasants, poorly equipped troops, or bandits, and the medium infantry complements the range with all the equipment not found elsewhere - polearms, falchions, lighter armour and less knightly headgear. Good stuff, glad to finally have an alternative to the Fireforge ones (whose outsized weapons and occasionally unnatural poses don't fit well with most other historical minis). Given the era and similarity in gear, they'd also go well with e.g. the WA Halflings I reckon, if you want a Bree-type setting where some Big Folk join forces with Halflings!

Really excited for those Sergeants/Levy minis. I'm working on a small campaign skirmish game (think 2x2 table with roughly 8 minis a side) based around a lesser medieval lord and their retinue using the plastic Baron War kits and I'm happy to see the 2nd and 3rd kits look awesome.

Since there is interest in the Baron's War figures, perhaps the forum will find this blog article on helmets interesting. It is by the manga-ka of the manga The Dragon, the Hero, and the Courier, a slice of life fantasy manga about a courier/mail carrier.

https://www-wtnb--bnz-jp.translate.goog/blog/diary/yoshida8armors?_x_tr_sch=http&_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

It would be great if some of the more outlandish helmet designs could be sculpted, if not for the Baron's War, at least for WGA Digital so we could have more variety. {Also, some helmets are pre-12/13th C, and some others after that period.}

In particular, I'd like the Savoyard Helm / Totenkopf Helm {Death Head/Skull in German}. The medieval Germans were Grimdark well before a British minis company started putting skullz on everything.

It might be of some interest that Victrix are tooling up an upgrade sprue that may be of use with the Wargames Atlantic knights.

Looks like a useful set, I like those winged helmets.

A more fantastic set with rune swords and staves and such might be fun.

It's going to be mounted serjeants according to a recent post on their FB page. Now I just need some Saracen kits.

Victrix sculpts on the small side compared to WGA, so test first before buying enough for an army. Otherwise, yes, it has lots of potential.

Not based on what I've seen / heard about the Barons War range. They aren't made to be GW compatible.

Victrix tend to be 32mm and very large compared to other 28mm historicals. Maybe you are thinking of some of their first sets from 10-12 years ago?

Perhaps. I don't have any of their Medievals, just Ancients and they are only slightly larger than the 25mm figures I started the hobby with.

If that preview image is any indication, it looks like the next grand battle army is Agincourt English/French?

Aye, that's confirmed now: https://wargamesatlantic.com/blogs/news/grand-battle-scale-coming-up-next?page=3
"The Azincourt range will allow you to field all the troops to recreate the epic battle between England and France! From the iconic English longbowmen and mounted French knights to Genoese crossbowmen, men-at-arms, foot knights, and much more!"

And the upcoming knights in the 28mm medieval range:

"The mounted knights charge onto the field! Dominate the battlefield or prepare for a jousting match with these incredible mounted units. All arms and heads are compatible with the foot knights set to give you even more variety! These are also about to join the tooling queue and will be with us soon!

Coming on these three sets' heels are Mounted Serjeants and some more surprises!"

It may just be a trick of the angle in this picture but that blue horse head looks kind of long and strange.

I think it's maybe a combination of the angle of the shot and the way the horses head is turned.

Regarding the size of the Victrix stuff, that comparison image was actually posted by me. I have the WA Foot Knights and also have a sprue of the new Victrix Mounted Knights. I find the Victrix miniatures I have are maybe a mm or two taller than the WA Knights. The big difference is the proportions, the Victrix stuff is much chunkier. The helmets especially seem much bigger on the Victrix Knights. Head connections are also different on some of the Victrix figures.

Personally, I really like both sets but I'll likely use them for different projects rather than mixing them.

Steve

Excellent news.

I have just found the bodies I needed to go with the Oathmark light infantry heads and arms.

I really like the peasants.
