That Lady Elisse model is really stunning with a great paint job to my unskilled eye.

He really is a great looking model. I understand why they made him massive monster size but I'd have preferred him to be 40mm/ogre sized personally.

Usually in the production queue for new models, lol. Admittedly, I haven't been paying too close attention for the past couple of editions so that may have changed since.

Unfortunately (for me) my snappy retort (the dumb space wolf heresy heads) was from 2023... so you're probably correct. Coteaz was (as far as I know) the worst of 2024.

Strange result for the WH40k category. I think it says a lot about the preferences of GW customers that a relatively low-key but very useful upgrade kit beat much flashier choices. I’d also say that WH40k generally had less impressive model releases. I voted for the Inner Circle dudes, because they look great, but they are far less flexible/useful as a kit than the Chaos Marine upgrade kit.

Ushoran got my vote as best AoS model, even though I would normally vote for a Skaven model. It’s such an impressive model, I bought one on impulse. Virtually all the new FEC models were excellent.

I’d be curious to know the number of votes this year vs last. The nightlords upgrade sprue is bery very niche.

I can't help but think that people might have gone with the Night Lords upgrade sprue to send a message to GW. You can't vote for the Dark Angels upgrades because it will just confirm GW's loyalist Marine bias and Imperial Guard wasn't this year. I could see voting for Night Lords in the hope that GW acknowledges people want upgrade sprues for other armies than loyalist Marines as being the drive for a portion of the votes.

Nice they broke it up into three categories this year round and quite happy with the results, bit miffed that princess free feet got second, but happy that daddy Ushoran got the win for AoS, I am not into the setting at all, but he's an impressive model. Had a laugh about the winner in the 40k category as well, did not see that coming, but maybe it is a clear message from the community.

WAIT I thought we had multi-page arguments that the Imperium isn't the Good side and that any presentation of it being good is evil and wrong and you should feel bad about supporting the Space Marines and the Imperium.

So the message is Spiky Evil always beats Non-spiky Evil?

I'm just hoping this will convince GW to actually produce more of her. Haven't seen her in stock since the initial Bretonnian launch, and I still want one.

She and the other new Lady for Bretonnia come into stock now and then but its super fast that they fall out of stock again. So you kind of have to stalk the GW site for a bit

To be fair, Dark Angels are 3rd, 5th and 6th. People voted against the Blood Angels and did not care that much about Kroot. The other contenders were mostly some single releases, two of them limited, while the other Kill Teams were either bland or pretty niche (Vespids). There was just no spectacular release in 2024 and it tells you something that the Ratling barbecue diorama and the Soviet Claus Gretchin are in the Top 10.

I voted for the ICC as I think they captured the DA aesthetic perfectly. Was surprised by the winner, even though I like that we are seeing more varied chaos options.

Vote splitting likely played a large role in the outcomes.

Dark Angels were split between several good candidates, and Kroot probably ranked lower because their votes were spread across seven releases.

To reminisce about 2024, how about the kroot. A bigger kroot release have been on the general wishlist for years, or even decades.
Feels like GW took some new design choises for them that perhaps was not generally appeciated by the community.
Anyone have some insights in how popular the release was?

They should have had potential to be on the top here.

Lets not forget many people just vote for models that they buy/want to buy/fit their armies.

Marines get an unfair bias because they sell more than many other armies. So one reason Tau might not be appearing as high is simply that they aren't quite as popular as the Imperial and Chaos side of things.

Also plenty of good quality sculpts can be "good" just not "blow your socks off" good. Eg many of the new Eldar Aspect Warriors and Leaders are great models and sculpts. They are just not blowing people's socks off because the models aren't really trying to do that either.

And that's totally fine and normal.

I am a die hard kroot fanboy since the first hour and while I appreciate the remake, it's not spectacular. The revamped units are solid, but the new ones missed the mark for me. Rampagers should've been Knarloc riders instead and the newt is just a seemingly random mount that doesn't fit into the co-evolutionary concept of kroot.

I consider farstalkers to be the best kroot kit by a long shot, and they absolutely made it into the top 3 for me.

I very much doubt that it was a case of 'sending a message'; I think it reflected the fact that many players are looking for cool looking and customisable basic models. It would have won over the Kroot (which are arguably better models) because they are more niche than Chaos, and I think people are a bit jaded with Primaris-ified Marines.

I agree with this. I really like the Kroot, and I picked up some of the new Kroot models. They are very nice, but lack the additional 'wow' factor. As mentioned, I think the same can be said for most of the WH40k releases this year.

I must say I thought all the 40K selections looked really horrible against the AOS ones, which at least displayed some semblance of artistry an imagination. I do have to wonder who chose these models though, as I thought most of them looked really tacky and underwhelming. Oh well

I really hate the Ushoran model from a tabletop standpoint, he just looks like a big meatball from above. Looks cool photographed up front though.
