Honestly? So am I. If for no other reason than to keep winning arguments.  But seriously, I was legit worried we wouldn't even get to keep Despoilers at all (or they'd get moved to Legends), let alone keep doubling up on weapons. Sounds like you remember the 8th Edition days, when Bretonnia and Tomb Kings were still running 6th Edition books...

That's basically when I got into Old World properly and tried to build a HE army - it was a bad choice at the time considering what happened 
Before then I'd had one box of Wood Elves and a few models that never went anywhere.
