So, some friends (and me) are getting together to build some 40k models.

I thought it would be fun to assemble some 40k style films to put on in the background.

Here's what I've got so far:

Ultramarines, Starship Troopers 1 & 4, and Event Horizon.

Got any Suggestions?

I don't know why but Death Machine popped into my head - more cyberpunk but definitely the sort of thing that would happen on a hive world.

Aliens is a brilliant movie and very 40k!

I mean, Rebel Moon, visually, is essentially a 40K movie without being a 40K movie so, as dreadful as it is, if you are watching it in the background whilst painting that's probably perfect.

And Event Horizon is canon....

Pacific Rim? Its stupid enough to not need to actually watch, except for the big robot punchy scenes

Dredd (2012) gets me jonesing to play/build/paint Necromunda every time I watch it. Every. Single. Time.

I totally forgot about Battle: Los Angeles.

I'm going to add these movies to the list.

Thanks!

There's a very cool film called "Hunter Prey".

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

I was thinking it.

But I was also thinking Mutant Cbronicles, Enemy at the Gates, and for Nurgle players, Mad God.

It’s not like I suggested they watch while eating…

I watched Mad God with my son.
Anyway, he’s fine now, talking again and everything.

Either of the Judge Dread movies. Both the Stallone and Urban ones were good for completely different reasons.

One is a good Judge Dredd movie and the other.... uh... has Rob Schneider in it?

Judge Dredd absolutely nails the look of MC-1, and in much better read hindsight? Was a game attempt to combine multiple stories in a single film.

The film goes off the rails for me the moment he takes his helmet off...

Still has elements of The Dead Man, The Long Walk, Juddah, Judge Call and Judge Rico.

Honestly, the helmet thing isn’t half as daft as clones not being identical!

Helmets get a bit of a free pass for artistic license. You pay a lot for the actors, you want to see their face. I get that it’s iconic in this case, but I’m willing to shrug and move on.

Judge Dredd does a really good job on the flavor and visuals. But a little light on plot and substance.

Dredd is a much better movie, but could be almost any near future urban hellscape.

IMHO etc…

Dredd is the more generic of the two, and to me less rewatchable.

But then, I sometimes go to YouTube just to watch “LaaaaAAWwwwwwawww!”

Hellraiser 2 if that's the one where they actually go to hell. I watched that movie after reading about the 40K warp, but it still heavily influenced my picture of the immaterium.

I've recently watched Battle Los Angeles with two friends that didn't know the film before... I hadn't realised before that the film has aged quite rapidly and the stupid marines behave and sound all kinds of silly... but maybe it feels different if you are from the US.
