The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer

Yes, we’re very close to the release of Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon! The boxed set is packed with Space Marines, Orks, rules and accessories, and will be available to pre-order very soon."
No, this is how it works. On Sundays they tell you what will go on preorder the following Saturday. Last Sunday they announced basically nothing, so today Saturday basically nothing accordingly goes up for preorder.
Tomorrow I'd expect the Armageddon Sunday preview.
Fayric wrote: Ah, a rumor of an anouncement of a preorder. This so close to something almost beeing something.
Oh, and just in case you didn’t catch it at the end, there – yes, that was a confirmation of the release date for the new edition at the end of the trailer! Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon will be available for pre-order from 6 June, and will be in stores on 20 June – mark your calendars!
There you go

They animated the Eldar picture from the 2nd edition Codex. They are the only faction that is shown and that is not fighting. Presumably they have manipulated everyone else to fight each other and they are just strolling and watching.

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon will be available strictly while stocks last – but don’t worry, we have made a LOT! Here’s what time you’ll be able to pre-order the boxed set in your area...
They 100% did not learn from the Orks 9th edition box.

Well... there was that whole time skip, which by every reconning other than 'nobody can tell the time in universe hur dur' would make it the forty-second millennium now; but then that's not chewing on that nostalgia is it?
Despite the supposedly advancing storyline, 40K is just about40K now and has to hit all of the memberberries.

Titanic Duel returns in White Dwarf, and this time its the Dominus and Tyrant having at each other...and there's a picture of a Cogfort on the front. I might have to get one for Frostgrave...

It’s….its…it’s a dramatic reading of a very early piece of 40K flavour text?
How early? Maybe Rogue Trader. Definitely 2nd Ed.

DO YOU REMEMBER THE FLAVOUR TEXT?!
- literally GW
(Also, they CHANGED the flavour text in 9th edition to remove the reference to the 41st millennium...)
I'm simply not impressed by GW quoting a piece of text at me, when said quote is no longer accurate in-universe because GW changed the setting. The exact same way that I'm not creaming my pants over Blood Angels with flame designs on their greaves fighting orks on Armageddon just because I REMEMBER THAT! despite the Blood Angels being there making no sense in-universe.
If GW want to commit to their #New 40K, change the flavour text to reflect the advanced setting. But they're more concerned with wringing the nostalgia out of their universe than they are with doing that.

"Advancing the timeline" sucks, I hope the tabletop game stays set at midnight on 999.m41 forever. "X army shouldn't be in this particular battle because it's on the wrong side of the galaxy" isn't how you enable people to have fun with their armies and never really mattered in the nearly 40 years leading up to the Great Rift storyline, I'm fine with it going back to not mattering.

Good news - the timeline is advancing but it isn't because the imperium lost track of its own character and nobody knows what year it actually is anymore but most think its still somewhere in M41 actually, but then also the Great Rift has screwed up the flow of time across the galaxy, so it might be M41 in one spot, it might be M50 in another, and M30 in yet another, because in some spots time is said to actually be flowing backwards now.

"
For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is Imperium to whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, and for whom blood is drunk and flesh eaten. Human blood and human flesh - the stuff of which the Imperium is made.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. This is the tale of these times. It is a universe you can live today if you dare - for this is a dark and terrible era where you will find little comfort or hope. If you want to take part in the adventure then prepare yourself now. Forget the power of technology, science and common humanity. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter and the laughter of thirsting gods.
But the universe is a big place and, whatever happens, you will not be missed.... "
so I think some bits were changed a bit?
I wasnt particularly wowed by the re-use of most of the footage. Also the VO was a bit hard to hear at times

That whole squad opened up on that Heretic and hit multiple times... I don't think they managed to sneak a Wound past his Armor save other than that Grenade (cheers to Mortal Wounds )

Whenever I click on this thread, it's always people complaining about GW practices which have been ongoing for almost a decade.
Maybe rename the thread from "news and rumors" to "olds and bickering"? Because the discussion hasn't been about anything that happend this year for almost ten pages.
7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

Unless you silenced everyone in this thread, a few posts above yours shares the preorder date and then the trailer.
I really like the trailer, but too focused on the grim dark and human suffering... I need to do Salamanders this edition to make it less samey then.
I may have missed it in the thread, but Auspex Tactics have reported the price confirmed at £185 direct from GW. So based on GW's current prices, a good deal, but still damned expensive in the long run.

Just a question, can we still use the old L-Shaped buildings in the new 40k game or will we need new building terrain for objectives?
