The Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a complete re-imagining of Star Fox 64, coming in June. I don't recall stages in a submersible in the 64 game so it seems there will be more stages than the original.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
Nope, the submarine stage was in the original. It was just on a really rare path and like most underwater stages in gaming, not very popular.
So we're getting a remake of a game that was a reboot of the game that came before it that has been remade at least one time before. Starfox is sadly the most one hit wonder of Nintendo's big franchises, but I am hoping that all the work that went into making this such an impressive looking remake can be reused to make a sequel that can live up to this all time classic.
Also, the online looks legitimately cool and the idea of VTubing my squadmates is weirdly compelling given how much of the original appeal was flying along with your memorable talking heads. A sequel with coop could be legitimately great.

I have no memory of that. Was it a bad stage?

Wasn't there a 3DS version?
The underwater stage was fine, just kind of slow and boring and very one off compared to even the Landmaster that had a pair of stages. Its main gimmick is that it's very dark and had some cool lighting effects for the N64, but definitely more a novelty than a highlight. It's called Aquas if you want to see a run through.
The main remake is the 3DS version. There's also the port on the Switch, but that's definitely more of an emulator deal than any sort of update.
I know it is a remake of a remake that has been remade before but I haven't played a (good) Starfox game in probably thirty years so I'm ok with it, though it definitely is a somewhat lazy.
I thought I posted this in the Video Games forum.

Absolutely shameful.
Mods, 2 day ban to this user seems appropriate.

Remaking the N64 game is boring, but the new looks for the characters are generally okay, except for Slippy who is somehow nightmare fuel.

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
