Here's the list.  It's pretty by-the-book, but I could still use some feedback from LatD vets.

D. Prince (143): d.stature, d.speed, d.resilience, d.strength, d.essence, MoCU, 2 CCWs, personal icon, frag
Asp. Champ (62): power fist, MoCU

5 Chaos Hounds (50)
Leman Russ (155): HB sponsons, HB hull
Leman Russ (155): HB sponsons, HB hull
Chaos Spawn (20)

Totals: 1849 pts., 16 scoring units and 106 models.  At 2000 pts., I'd add more Chaos Spawn, Mutants and Hounds.

Any thoughts?

I like it.

I'd personally drop the sponsons on the Lemans and give those traitors an agitator. The extra leadership really helps even if they are throw away units. I'd also drop the spawn and give the ACs mutation. A single spawn isn't worth it. Add them at 2000 or adjust the list to fit inmore if you really want to use them. Also dropping an oblit to upgrade the mutants might be something to consider. Like the nurgle one for the 4+ save really helps against bolters and flamers.

that is a tough list. I think you would have a lot of success. Not really much fat to trim, as i can see. you have ranged anti armor, lots of HtH, a brutal lord, fast scoring units and reserve troops to fill gaps.

I think that this is a pretty brutal list. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the feedback.

That's probably a good point regarding the Spawn. I was trying to fit one in because it's another scoring unit to deal with. But maybe I'll use those points toward mutations for the ACs or scrounge up a few more points to run 3 units of 6 Hounds each. Fifteen scoring units should be enough.

I'd like to get that bloated 4+ save on the Mutants, but it's so expensive at 50% of the Mutant base cost. I'd have to trim other units or go with smaller mutant units in order to pay for it. Any feedback on how small I can go with a Mutant unit and still retain effectiveness? I could trade the 23 Mutants straight up for 15 bloated Mutants, but does a 16-model unit really have a chance at crossing the table even with a 4+ save?

Well the nice thing is you can tryout the bloated mutants and if they don't work then you can just make more and go with bog standard.

If you face more SAFH then the current mobile flavors of the month then the upgrade probably isn't worth it. However I think its worth it against drop pods and the like.

I'd personally trim some stuff (sponsons, tank hunter, a single oblit) to keep numbers in the 18-20 range and still take the bloat upgrade.

Okay, here's a revised list. I added bloated on the Mutants...that's an excellent point re: drop pods. I still have the points to add D.Mutation to one of the ACs. If I can scrounge up a few more, I'll also add it to the other AC. The list still has pretty good numbers, but the Mutants should be more resilient.

I like the second list better. In my experience, the bloated upgrade makes the mutants much more resilient. Without armor saves, these guys melt away in front of rapid firing bolters.

I miss the spawn, though. They're a great unit to place first in deployment, to absorb shooting, to worry opponents, and (when they manage to get into hand to hand) to wear down your opponent's assaults. And they don't cost many points. I'd rather have a unit of 4-5 spawn than, say, a second pack of daemonettes. Or, you could take out one of the hounds units -- that plus your leftover points would buy 3 spawn.

Thanks for the advice. At this point, I have a few different builds, with the main differences being the number of Spawn, D'ettes and Hounds. I'll just have to playtest the army and see what works for me.
