Recently, we here in Orlando has formed a club called Adeptus Orlandicus. Now it has been rocky getting off the ground but we are coming on our first official event. Mega Battle #3.

The Event takes place on Saturday, September 16th and starts at 12:00. It is titled Mega Battle #3 because during the Medusa V campaign, Sci-Fi city ran two Mega-battles which where so popular (around 20 people would show up!) that the decition was made to do another one even though Medusa V was over. Lazarus has been running these events and will be running this one. Let me tell you, I have never been to a Mega Battle that was ran so smoothly and kept things more interesting.

Points are at a 1000 per player. FOC is 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2-6 Troops, 1-Fast Attack, 1-Heavy Support like the previous two. However, Lazarus is going to mix it up by giving each side a few thousand points to expand any particular players force, those points can even go towards a Super-heavy!

The game will play the same as before. Each side will have a overall goal and several smaller goals all equally Victory points, and the side with the most wins the game. Also there will still be the random event table that Lazarus has that should mix things up a little. It will still be a Cityfight game (and Lazarus has been busy making a whole lot of buildings, all the buildings this time around will be Games Workshop plastic covering as much as 64 Sqr. Feet of table space!)

So if you are in town visiting, or a native of the area. Come on over!

The Fighting 49th Imperal Gurad will be there to fight for the good side.

OT; I have been told to bring it all.

We did well in the summer campaign for Medusa V, in fact Imperal Guard finished second worldwide behine the Space Marines.

The 49th received 5 battle decorations during the campaign as well.

would someone confirm that painting, while encouraged, is not actually required for this event? I know the past two had no such restrictions, but this is a whole different event (specifically a club one).

He would like the armies to be painted, but that is not necessary. You can play your Lysander Wing.

Best thing about this event is that it is free!

I figured painting would be either not required at best, or laxily enforced at worst, mostly because of all the people that brought it from a 4vs4 8000 point game to a 12vs12 24000 point slaughter had mostly unpainted armies.

Obviously, we've (the soon to be victorious good guys) established a solid tactic, that being the granting of 1000 extra points to me for some Lysander commanded goodness.

However, what to do with the extra 2500-3500 points remains to be seen... but it might end up simply be taking 3-4 baneblades and shoving them down the proverbial mouth of the chaos messiness.

How about some love for the Armor of the 49th Cadian's.

That would depend on what you were planning on doing with a certain number of extra points, as well as how well you present your case to General K (capt k, I call him that because he's almost 100% garuanteed to be the commander again).

The reason we've decided on using my Lysander wing is that in a mega battle enviroment, a lot of players are not cooperating ahead of time, and thus have a general lack of enough ap1-2 weapons. Plus, a Lysander wing is more then capable of getting just about anywhere on the 24 feet of table, taking that place, anhilating most enemies in that area, then holding the place.

My Baneblade will most definitely be hitting the table. If Rich is playing as well, I will also have him include his Stormblade. Warrior 50, make sure you bring more than just the 1000pts of guard, because most likely you will be getting additional points to add to your list.

CaptKaruthors, I am Planning to bring my entire Imperial Guard Army.

I have the 1000 points allocated to the same force I had before, including the improved Comm.

I will let you pick out what else you want me to put on the table. I did find the rules for the Inferno shells and the griffon is in the box.

Mike, Your Lysander list is a good choice. However I was just thinking about an AC as I have the rules and tanks to do it. Don't plan to do that on Satuday however.

I'm looking forward to putting the rending hurt on something juicy in the chaos army... I hope some one shows up with a titan or a baneblade.

More Tactica...

I could hold off the teleportation until turn 3, mabey even 4, so we can determine where to battle is going badly, then send in the L-wing to..er..um...clean house and kick *donkey*?

Another thing that we need to do is to spread out the experinced players on our side better. For example, in the last game both myself, capt k, and Ernie were on the same table, albeit the primary one, as well as some of the more powerful armies, i.e the armoured company. This led to some serious lack of leadership at some crucial times on the far table, as well as (but not nearly as badly) on the far end of the middle table as the tau and eldar fought to a complete standstill, despite several missed opportunities to grab the objective earlier instead of having to fight an uphill battle. I think mixing some of the vets with the beginners would help with the targetting priority(choosing what to shoot, not the LD test) and tactical decisions.

Warrior_50, go ahead an build an Armored Company List. I will build one myself to give you another option as well. I have been talking to Capt. K. and he would like to see a few Armored Companies on the field. He will have his Baneblade, and hopefully Rich will be there with his Stormsword and Armored Company.

My Emporer's Talons will be hitting the field, my extra points will go into some =][= goodness and all the terminators I have, my terminators can help support Me_Persons Lysander wing.

Look forward to seeing you all there.
