I would just like to say that I really enjoy your vidcast. I would never have discovered up and coming companies like Morgan Keith Studios without your help. And Conquest Miniatures makes me mourn the sale of my french-indian army so long ago.

Have you thought about making your vidcast available as a podcast or providing an RSS feed?

You're doing a great job and keep it up, thanks!

There is an RSS feed for the blog so you can find out about new vidcasts as they get psoted to the site. The Col. does a pretty good job of notifying everyone though.

And to pop in a toot my own horn you can get news (but not any of the Col.'s famous commentary :-) about many of these manufactures at TGN. See the link to the site in my quote.

TGN also offers RSS feeds as well as custom RSS feeds so you can tailor your news delivery to your specific interests.

Yeh I get a lot of the news which I use in the 'cast from TGN, so its well worth subscribing to their feed ! They get the hot news out well before anyone else in my experience.

Re the Podcast angle. Well originally the idea was indeed to make the show a download that you could view on the move. But I've been stumped by the (a) bandwidth requirement issue & (2) deciding on a universal format - not everyone has an ipod! I'm not even sure if there is a format that works for mobile phones? I was pondering these problems when YouTube mushroomed so I thought I'd start there & work on the download issue later.

Maybe it's just the good painting that is doing it for me but I really like the mindstalkers releases at #9 it's unfortunate they are such a large scale. Might pick them up anyway and use them as an excuse to do a careful detailed paint job for once

There are hosting providers that specifically deal with podcast providers. IIRC the people that do the PodThralls Warmachine podcast are hosted on just such a provider.

Most podcasts are stored as standard MP3s

I like the Vidcast though. I can see the minis you are discussing which makes it a much better show. If you can't see the figs it strikes me as being less of a full experience.

And if YouTube will host the videos for free...

Ahh, there is a feed, I was looking in the wrong spot.  Excellent!

And not to split hairs, but several podcasts are in video format.  I happen to enjoy the Strongbad Emails that are periodicly published as podcasts.  (http://www.homestarrunner.com/main8.html)

Regardless, its great work, I've been watching every week and have made a few purchases of great minis I would have otherwise missed.

Keep it up!

(As far as TGN, I've been going to your page for a long time, Pixelgeek.  The Colonel's right, you are on top of the news.)

I'm not disputing that there are podcasts in video foramt (a favourite of mine is the weekly comics review show Variant edition http://www.variantedition.com/ ) but the issue for me is to make it mobile i.e. so that people can watch it on he move rather than just on their computers. If you want ot watch it at home, YouTube is just as easy (if not more so). I'm not sure if there is a big enouhg number of people with a video ipod to make it worthwhile doing a download. If there was a general movbile phome foramt that would be cool, but I'm not aware of one. Plus after all that you have the cost of bandwidth issue!

Well thats just me being doctrinaire :-)

I guess the difference between the two is starting to blur.

I wouldn't have even considered mobile phone usage but I guess that there is a lot more video viewing on phones in the UK and Europe than there is here in Canada.
