As the title says, I'm new to warmachine. This is my first list for cygnar. After I get a better hang of the rules and such, I'll move to a list with more infantry and solos (actually, a list with them at all, as this one has none of em).

Me Person; Good starter except that is a lot of jacks.

Darrius is an interesting war jack, I have not built him yet but have played against him several times.  His cannon is effective at hurting infantry and some light jacks.  His half jacks take getting used to.

The centurians are good and I like them as hard hitters, may have to get a second one for my force.  The iron clad is a good battering ram and can take it and dish it out as well.

Good luck with your Cygnar force.

That's a neat list, and a very common one. It's called the "Redking Full Metal Beatdown," after the guy who first posted it on the PP forums a while back. Lots of people have come up with it independently; it's basically the logical conclusion to an all-heavy jack list at 500.

I ran it for a while; and it's very good. It's also very easy for a new player to learn with - to the point of being too easy. I learned with that same list and fraknly it was a bit of a crutch - I won a lot of games when I was starting out, so I'm now going to recommend against it.

- The Centurians mean you will not learn to defend against charges. This is a somewhat critical part of WM and with the Centurians it's just too easy
- the low model count means you never learn how to finesse manuever. Warmachine's not like 40k in that friendly models block your own movement; I had HUGE fits when I branched out to other casters because I'd be constantly fouling charging lanes and the like.
- The lack of infantry means that you'll struggle when you branch out. Again I suffered a lot because I didn't know basic things like how to protect my unit leaders.
- The list's insane resiliency ends up being a crutch.

So yeah, it's a powerful list - VERY powerful, and very easy to play. It's too much of a crutch honestly.

It's cliched, but if you're literally just starting out get the Cygnar battle box. PLay battle box games, then branch out from there - get a unit of Trenchers and some Long Gunners, along with a Journeyman Warcaster. Learn to play with them, then branch out to the other stuff.

Solid list but as above poster says it's been well played for some time now.

Protect darius above all as that single loss ends your game utterly with your jacks shutting down.

Protect your halfjacks...the secret to handling darius is that he can only produce one of them a turn....I keep them all dead for the most part. (lol)
