So I figured I'd check the GW website for the newly added 40k FAQ.

Um lets look at Tau Empire. Imagine my horror when i read the first line.

A devilfish does not have the scout special abilitiy. If Pathfinders start the game deployed inside the Devilfish they loose the scout ability. Pathfinders must deploy on foot to deploy ahead of the main army.

WTF? A squad that you are forced to buy a Devilfish for, that background fluff and logic demands they use the Devilfish to deploy ahead of the main army with, have to start the game on foot?

"Lets park the devilfish over there so Shas'ui Fio'la can talk to the pretty Eldar girls. They are so cute in their Cloaks and camo gear. Don't worry guys we'll just walk 5 clicks to the forward postion on foot instead."

This rule is so silly, i've alwyas used my devilfish to make a move before the game starts and put my pathfinders in a forward position. Now they say we can't...

++++ Secret Pic Feed from Servo Skull 19+++

GW Games developer: "I know lets feed our financial machine by forcing people to buy a devilfish for their Pathfinders which are 'scouts' and by background nature have to deploy ahead of the main army!"

GW Playtester: "Yeah great idea, two birds with one stone, profit and fluff need... Um.... But somethings missing..."

GW Games developer: "...."

GW playtester: "I know! Lets make it completely useless and totally destroy our weak sales/character argument by making the Devilfish unable to deploy ahead of the main army with the scouts that it carries into combat!"

GW Games developer: "Brilliant!!! Now lets bow and worship the ever hungry god of greed that is Slaanesh!"

Both: "Oh Slaanesh we are not worthy"

You are giving the game developers too much credit.

As well. This is old news.

First to go, last to know--right, Whitedragon?

Gundam, I sympathize with you because I agree that the dev team is a bunch of idiots. But I just don't see how they're going to do what I believe you implied (increase sales of Pathfinders) by making the choice worthless.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

It's a shame -- I've always loved the idea of a vehicle ceeping stealthily forward, from bush to bush, slipping behind a rock when it sees the Ork sentry's head start to swivel, etc.

I'm afraid for this idea.  When it ventures into the world that is GW rules, I'm afraid that all the dumb ideas will gang up on it and bash its head in with a brick.
