I created a new list for Fallcon '06 using grotesques and incubi, two units I had never really fielded before. I was expecting to place middle of the field but ended up taking Best Overall with a Solid Victory, Crushing Victory and a Total Massacre. Granted I only played Chaos, IG and Vanilla Marines but it was surprising none the less. I'm sure the list isn't nearly as strong as my results indicate so please poke some holes in it so I can tighten it up for Octo-con in a few weeks.

Archon w. punisher, t-helm, t-rack, p-grenades, s-field, drugs, g-talisman (attaches to Grotesques)

7 Grotesques in a Raider

Dracon w p-blades, pistol + 6 Incubi w p-grenades in a Raider

9 Wytches w Weapons, 2 blasters, Succubus w Agonizer, Pistol, t-rack, g-talisman in a Raider

9 Wytches w Weapons, p-grenades, Succubus w Agonizer, Pistol, t-rack, g-talisman in a Raider

3x Sniper Squad (10 troops w 2 Darklances)

2x Ravagers w 3 dissintegrators, n-shield

Talos

The Archon (with Grotesques) goes hunting non fearless units (usually troops but occasionally hq's with weak retinues) and the Dracon + retinue goes after T4 units (usually basic MEQ troops). The Archon's unit almost always massacres the other unit due to the grots special rule. The Dracon's unit can take down most single troop (meq) choices in 2 turns. The wytches tie up his elites/hqs/fearless units until the Talos catches up and/or the Archon/Dracon finish up and come help. The snipers and any empty Raiders try for his tanks and the Ravagers are used to suppress any unit not already covered or to soften up anything about to be assaulted or that is threating to overrun my snipers.

Wytch squad 1 has 2 blasters but no plasma grenades because they are used for engaging units already coming to me (Tyrants, Fexes, Demon Princes, etc and the blasters help give it a wound more than and extra 2 S3 wytch attacks in CC). Wytch squad 2 has the grenades but no blasters since they could have to ferret out anything and aren't expected to actually kill the enemy anyway, just tie him up till the heavy hitters arrive.

The main thing I note is that the Dracon will kill many more MEQs with an agonizer than he ever will with poisoned blades.

Your list will be massacred so horribly babies all across the planet will die.

I'll start form the top:
Archon w. punisher, t-helm, t-rack, p-grenades, s-field, drugs, g-talisman (attaches to Grotesques)
7 Grotesques in a Raider

Seems fine, drop the trophy rack and talisman and bump the grots up to 8 men and you're set.

The Dracon should have an agoniser and a pistol, and that's it. I wouldn't dream of Incubi in anything but a WWP army, and they don't even have a blaster. I'll leave this to you, though. Don't get arrogant with your Incubi because you have a 3+. They still have Eldar pansy-toughness.

Elites:
9 Wytches w Weapons, p-grenades, Succubus w Agonizer, Pistol, t-rack, g-talisman in a Raider
Is this 9 wiyches with a Succubus or 10 wyches and one is a Succubus? Anyway, the rack and talismans should go, and grab some blasters.

Troop:Get raiders, with blasters and s-cannons. The blaster and Dark Lance on the raider should take care of all your anti-tank.

2x Ravagers w 3 dissintegrators, n-shield
Talos

The ravagers are great for MEQ bustin', but that Talos is too slow for anything but a WWP army.
Drop the Ravagers' night shield, and you're set.

To sum up, get either a raider horde, or a swarm of Jetbikes, or a Webway portal and have stuff walk through it. Pick one.

Good advice aboutthe Archon. He doesn't need the talisman with 14 wounds of grots behind him and the trophy rack is only needed if in danger of losing a combat, which I haven't seen happen yet with this unit 9mostlyu because I send it against regular troops. So there's 7 points back.

The reason I didn't add any gear to the Dracon was to save points. He invariably gets singled out in combat and has a good chance of dying. I don't want to wipe out the squad in one turn either and 6 incubi can really put the hurt on regular troops (which is what I send them against)

It's 9 wytches+succubus for a full 10 in the Raider. Initially I only had points for blasters for 1 squad of wytches. I can now give the other squad 1 blaster and if I shave another 3 points they'll get a second blaster.

With only 300 points in troops I can only get 2 gunboat raiders ,trading 6 dark lances for 3 dark lances, 2 blasters and 2 splint cannons. But that would mean I have 0 infantry able to start on the board for certain tourney scenarios. I'll think about it. The list was already a little light on anti tank and having to get raiders within 12" is not always doable. But I would get back a bunch of points (16-80 depending) and be better off against some hordes.

The Talos has actually been fairly effective and only fails to see combat 1 in 4 games. Otherwise he's about 50/50. He completely raped the demons summoned by the Chaos player and finished off his berserkers. It took out a Chaplain led assault squad who's general was dumb enough not to include a powerfist AND charged without support. On the otherhand he got completely screwed over by a Spacewolve squad with three powerfists so, I'll take it under advisement. That would be another 100 points, enough for a third gun boat.

The night shields usually save the Ravagers more often than not and sometimes the other general just starts to assume that all the Raiders have them too so often elects not to shoot the Raiders. These will be staying.

As you can see my competition isn't always the stiffest. Thanks for the advice so far.

Although I love the Talos, I'm still not sure you should have him, as he is far too random for my taste in an army were strategy is utmost.
