Hey everyone.  I've finally decided to finish up the Grey Knight army that I've been playing with for so long (actually, the first models I bought about 6 years ago).  I want it to be both a fun list, and also a bit competative.  I understand I'll lose more often than I'll win, but I'd rather not lose every game if it can be helped.

All suggestions & criticisms are welcomed, as I only currently own the GKs and the Terms (my favorite models).

I have been wondering if the ISTs are even needed, and if I should go for more GKs (drop the ISTs & Chimeras and go for 2 Regular units of 8 GKs, and 2 FAGKs of 8, each with Incinerator and Psycannon). Any advice on that?

HQ

Terminator Squad (Brother Captain (w/ Holocaust) & 4 Grey Knight Terminators) - 265

TROOP

Inquisitorial Storm Troopers  (7 Troopers w/Hellgun, 2 Troopers w/Plasma Gun, 1 Vet w/ Power Weapon & Teleport Homer, Chimera w/EA & 2 HB) - 248

I am not sure where you can get the points but I have had really good luck with Psycannons and Incinerators in the telepport attack squads. Especially with the teleport homers, if you bring them down next to a medium armored squad that is relatively tightly packed you can usually wipe them out. Both weapons also give you a chance of getting into up to AV12 with shooting. The storm bolters are only going to do it against rear armor on most tanks.

The Hammer

Good call on giving only the Brother-Captain Holocaust. Nothing sucks more than getting an entire unit of 46-point models hit by Perils of the Warp. I'm guessing one of those Termies is packing a Thunder Hammer for heavy duty work?

I'd be more inclined myself to run mechanized Stormies with a smaller squad size and a Rhino, as more dedicated drive-by units. Inducted Guard are the better place, IMHO, to get your Chimeras, as they can take Improved Comms.

There are two ways to go with GK - either mid-ranged dakka (kind of like expensive Space Wolves) making use of shrouding and possibly a screen of inducted IG - useful for their lascannon as well - to screw with NME targetting while laying down a hail of fire with two psycannon in each squad. This build actually has some good matchups against some higher-tier armies, such as Seer Council...can't reroll that Rune Armour save if you don't get it. It can also randomly wreck weaker armies/units, such as bikers and C'tan. S6 on the Psycannon makes it as good as a missile launcher against MEQs. I've seen one list whose owner claimed good results that ran with a Brother-Captain and three Terminator Inquisitors all with Psycannon, backed by a brace each of armoured fist squads and walking GK, with three dreads in support. Thumbs up on your dread armanent - GK are the one variety of MEQ who need their dreads to pack the long-ranged AT, as they lack Predators.

Melee GK are somewhat dodgier, especially relying on the drop. A "Daemonwing" build is probably the best way to run them - Terminators riding in LRCs, backed by a bit of random shooting. This is because you unfortunately can't assault on the drop, unlike the assault ramp of an LRC. The difficulty is that escalation does bad things to you. I'd vote for Dakka Hunters over Daemonwing or your current configuration, but it really comes down to what best fits your style.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Walking grey knights doesn't work, as each model is far too expensive to be shot, even with the night-fighting thingy(shrouding?). Every causualty will sting.
