Subject: Menoths version of the Darius list...

Is it possible to have a competitve Heavy Jack heavy list with a Protectorate army? The only thing I can think of is Amon, a choir, Avatar and Castigor or two.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)

Pretty much Amon + jacks. You probably want a Devout or two in there, and maybe some Dervishes (when they're available).
It won't approach the Darius list though. He is the heavy jack caster of Warmachine.

Oh and I'm not sure on the Avatar - as I recall Amon's spells all affect jacks in his battle group and the avatar is not part of a battle group.

It won't approach the Darius list though. He is the heavy jack caster of Warmachine. Don't take this to mean it'll be a bad list though. Amon is to light jack lists what Darius is to Heavy jack lists. Sandblast + Wracks + Arc Nodes = the win. One on One they've both got advantages and disadvantages. the FMB is powerful, but Amon can be tricksey as well. My usual list with Amon is... Amon Castigator Devout (to shield guard) Revenger (to Arc Sandblasts) Choir +1 10 Zealots w/ MBSeneschal Eiryss Wrack Wrack Use the chain attack smite, crack the whip and sandblast to knock stuff around then pipebomb it.

For heavies I would suggest running Sevvy or Kreoss. They have the focus and support to do it. But Menoth cannot mimic the Darius FMB. And, as 'jack casters go, Amon is bottom of the barrel. Sandblast is ok, but usually no more effective than just headbutting/slamming/etc. Which kinda sucks, but meh. Menoth just plays differently. We get Infused Skyhammers, after all (now with EFeora Flaming Action!).

The Avatar is not a given in an Amon list. His spells affect his battlegroup, but in a 750 pt. list, the Avatar is a nice flanker to add.

Amon and a reckoner (or two) is pretty ouch. Throw two choir in there, plus a couple of devouts and you're going pretty jack heavy. Season with an avatar, and ya hot to trot.

In 750pts I was running Kreos with avatar, castigator, redeemer, revenger and devout. As far as Menoth goes thats pretty steep, 2 heavies and 3 light jacks. With EFeora I run the same 5 jacks. Generally speaking Menoth's infantry are so cheap and so good why would you want to go jack heavy?
