The Eldar War Walkers squadron boxed set is now available for US preodering.  http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=305779&orignav=9&ParentID=258764&GameNav=9

Only 175 boxes left, which makes me think it is a splash release to be followed by a $25 boxed set with one walker.  Interestingly, the $60 price is  lower than the £40 being charged in the UK, which works out to around $75.60 with VAT, $62.37 without.  I think that is the first time I have seen a price which is lower in the US for something other than a starter box.

I like the models. I really do.

But I don't see how they will ever beat out my heavy slots for Falcons or a Wraithlord. Not with armor 10.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

It will be a $30 boxed set with one walker.

They look sweet but $60 US? Thats like, AU$90? Still..we pay $70 for terminators. Not worth it i dont think but then again i might buy one for nostaglia value when i used to play eldar.

Thats the real pain in the butt with these deals for the gamer. They are bought on speculation that they will be a good choice to take. We have hints as far as what it is going to be ruleswise, but no solid facts behind why these are good. GW should give a hint as far as what these things are capable of when they advertise them before the codex release.

I have to agree with bigchris, Falcons from what we know will still be the major choice for HS besides wraithlords.

Warwalkers do pour out an incredible amount of firepower, but I dont see them making their points back before they are eliminated.

Perhaps in a cityfight environment they will shine brightly, but I think the wraithlord is the better choice there in that case too.

Oh but they do. Take a look at any unit description and they'll say "THIS UNIT R0XX0RZ!" in one of three varieties: "Liek a ninja, liek a terminator-shooty-badass, or liek a huge abomination of science that will make your opponent squeal in terror."

Check it out: "sacrificing armor in favor of HARD-HITTING weaponry and maneuverability [ZOMG]...equipped with an array of force fields that blur and distort its outline [WHOAH SCI-FI!]....The sheer rate of fire a full squadron of War Walkers can provide is often enough to obliterate an entire platoon of enemy troops in a single volley."

See? GW already states what they're capable of. I suggest people buy lots of these since you guys wouldn't want to be without HARD-HITTING weaponry and maneuverability, right? Plus, I'll be laughing when my full squadron OBLITERATES your platoons of enemy (IG) troops - in a single volley!

I don't like those things...never did...never will...

And I don't expect them to be fielded that much, simply due to the superb heavy support choices of the Eldar.
I suppose , a fast attack choice whould have been too overpowering.

If you really have to get them cheap, why not just ask a guy with a battalion box to share with you? Just a thought.
