Just got my copy yesterday, didn't have it's customary plastic coat.  Recieved it all torn up and everything.  Was curious how often this happened with everyone else?  Was there something special included in this one that someone might have stolen?

Never happened to me, though I stopped taking WD nearly 2 years ago. As you can imagine, I have no idea if this month's issue contained a gift of some sort.

Bought mine from FNGS. Find this easier withou have to worry about moving house or less than competant postmen ruining my mag!

Mine came without the cover as well. However, it was so bad being torn up wouldn't have impacted.

Mine came uncovered as well , baddly mauled , made me very unhappy untill I read it , and then I discovered it was crap anyway so it did not matter.

There's no way GW are going to rescue the Dwarf anytime soon, so you may as well save the cash and buy something more worthhile with it - like a slap in the face with a wet tunafish...

No going to cancel since its already paid for. But absent a massive turnaround, it won't be renewed.

Is it just me, or is White Dwarf erratic?  It seems that every couple of months there are a handful of great articles, a beautiful army feature, maybe even some trial rules or soemthing.  and then you get a month or two of mediocricty, and then issues like this months glorified catalog.  The highlight, IMO, was the spread explaining what the armies in WFB were like.  I understand that they're bringing in new players via Macragge, but there are way more interesting ways to introduce new gamers to the armies (tale of four gamers, even the battalion features they ran a few months back)

I'll admit, I buy White Dwarf every month, for a simple reason: I almost only game at FLGSs, and I buy the bulk of my minis online.  I try to support the store I game at as much as I can, so I buy all the codices, white dwarf, etc. where I game.  Maybe it's not much, but at lesat they see me buying stuff.

I've also found that WD is great bathroom reading.  Even my roomate, who doesn't play, enjoys looking at the purty pictures.

In short, the magazine sucks.  But I still have reasons to buy it.

I prefer a paper with a bit more tooth. That high-gloss paper GW uses just smears everything around...
