But seriously.

I am back in Atlanta, teaching Middle School science and have a cadre of 10 or so 12 - 13 year old WHFB and 40K players.  I am in the process of performing a radical cheesectomy on several of them but I will bend them to my will, especially by spanking them silly.

FOR EXAMPLE

This weekend I went to a local store to show them some actual game play and used my WHFB VC tournament list, 2000 points of Blood Dragons vs 'what they had in their box'.

I found myself facing Archaon at the head of 20 chosen knights, 16 Khorne Warriors, 25 Khorne Marauders, Minotaur BSB, Tzeentch 2 on disk, Slaanesh 2 in Chariot, Khorne Asp. champ in chariot,  a weird DoW Dark Elf Manflayer unit 20 strong and a Hellcannon.  I have no clue what it all cost, but none of it survived, at the cost of just over half of my points and I would have done better if there had been some cover, the table wasn't 3 feet wide and my opponent hadn't got the first turn.

I've been out of it for the last three years and I won't have the time to be the fanatic I used to be, plus my home store has gone away.

I'm getting ready to play 7th and 4th.

I'll be pointing the younglings here for advice and army list help.

Glad to see so many 'old names' around.

Close, I've been 'hiding' from the 'Secret Police' (Homeland Security) who keep suggesting that it's only a few days before I'll be thrown out of the country in chains, never to be allowed back.

There is now a Mrs Alchemys and four small dogs, not Dogs of War, but nice none-the-less.

I have retreaded as a High/Middle School teacher and have spent the last couple of years teaching chemistry in a High School in Augusta, now I'm back in Atlanta with some willing Acolytes.

I still have most of my armies.

Ahh homeland security. Gestapo is a more apt nomer me thinks.

Anyways, still into the chaos?

I cant wait until we get you back into YMDC and Tactics.

Not much Chaos.  The Lustwing Opera of Death was wiped out by the new Codex and the 2 small squads and 9 Obliterator army, whilst somewhat effective, was no fun.

I'll wait for 4th edition and see if I can find something suitably effective and Baroque.

The name is familiar to me, but only because I've heard people lamenting, "I wish X,Y, and Z posters were still here." Regardless, welcome back.

These are indeed strange days. Dreams and legends spring to life out of the grass.

EDIT: Now I know where I heard it.  You are credited in the Dakka Jargon Glossary as the creator of Lustwing.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Thanks for all the kind words.

I'm planning on training my acolytes to be 'lactose intolerant', so no more IHOC and AFAIK, there are few/none playing there.

I will repost the old Inquisitor stories.  I don't think that I posted the finish to the last one (Inquisitor vs the Navy)

Not exactly.

I can and will out-cheese them until they come to their senses.  When they return to the way of Righteous Fluff, they will enjoy their games a LOT more and I will prepare them for tournament play, but at the moment some are in the 'win at all costs' mode.

I've pointed them to this site and I hope they look and ask for help with their tactics and army lists.

At the moment, none of them stand much of a chance against a Therion-style VC tournament list, even with a significant points advantage.  They don't understand maneuver and time and space at all, just shoot and charge.  However, they are only 7th graders.  Just give them some time, they do have brains.

The school has approved a painting/tactics/army list club.  There just won't be enough time for games and I plan to schedule them at local shops every month or so.

I'll add my 'Wow, AMA!' stick to the pile and happily so. Those insightful and elegant writings on tactics on imperial dakka are one of the early links in the chain leading to me having DCM on my title. Good to see you back!
