Ok, these guys look like they should be ok, but in practice everyone hates em.

If they are the Ctan's ultimate achievement, shouldn't they have WBB or something better?

How about a feel no pain wbb That happens as the wounds happen, is negated as wbb but can be reinforced by the res orb in the same way.

They need some type of negative, maybe.  How about they still cannot be teleported OR they don't count as necrons for phase out.

If this were the case they would be quite usefull.  Especially with a lord.

I sorta wish they had 2 attacks but I feel that would probably be over the top.

What do you think?

Pariahs that get an insta wbb subject to normal wbb restrictions (which means ones which make their wbb still get melee attacks that round)

They still don't boost your phase out  or count against it when you die.

They CAN be teleported by monolith or Vod.

Same points cost.

Would you field a squad of 10 with the lord?  I think if within WBB range they would finally be good at killing terminators, which give us necrons a stupidly hard time.

I would up the points to 40 and give them a second attack, but I play necrons and I may have a skiewed opinion of how fair this would be.  Actually, even I think it may be a bit OTT

What do you guys think?

I'm involved in a debate on this on Warseer.

Pariahs have many, many issues, and that's why I think they need to start over with the concept. As an assault unit, they're terrible. A1 and I3 just kill their chances of beating hordes or elite infantry. The numbers are pretty stunning when you run them.

You're right that the lack of WBB and teleporting are other major issues. Without WBB, they're just plasma fodder. Teleporting combined with WBB would help in that then you could portal them to your Monolith and get the WBB reroll. It doesn't help much with launching assaults unless you're deep striking a Monolith, and you're generally better served keeping Monoliths on the table. I suppose you could use them to accompany a Veil Lord to serve as "Immortals" with some assault capacity if the unit gets charged. But then you're back to the point that they stink in assaults, so they'd probably need to get A2 also.

So if we're talking about making Pariahs Necrons and boosting their attacks, while keeping their gauss blasters and their "fear" abilities, we're starting to create an uber-unit rather than a well-designed unit with a defined role. That's why I say GW should blow 'em up, or at least take a step back and think about what they want the unit to do.

A while back I posted the idea of making them work like Wolf Guard...you buy X number of them in one slot and then embed them in other units. People resisted the idea of having "vet sergeants" for Necron units, but I don't think it's illogical for the Necrontyr to embed new, higher tech units to boost their effectiveness of existing units . It doesn't mean the embedded Pariah would be named "Veteran Sergeant Bob" and carry a personalized back banner. It'd just be an attached weapon, not a leader, per se.

That'd be good.

Although, I think if they had a feel no pain type wbb roll and 2 attacks they would look vastly different in cc.

With this they would be better defensively than terminators in every respect (when in res orb range, mind you). with armor saves, they fail on a 1 or 2. WBB instantly saves half ov that, making it effectively a 2+ armor save. Against things that ignore armor, they get their 4+ wbb which beats out a terminators 5+ inv. Plus they have t5.

Now, the i3 isn't so huge a deal because they still strike before power fists and are much more likely to get their attacks with their new AS. Add the second attack and I'd take them against most other troops in the game. As counter assault units they shine as well.

Honestly, I do really like the idea of spreading them across the other units. If this were the case, I would like to se them become regular old necrons and get a second attack.

Majority toughness would stink a little. The only problem with this is that it doesn't work for most necron units. I don't want pariahs with my destroyers or wraiths or flayed ones unless they can adopt some of the characteristics of that unit. (Hah, Imagine sticking one with a wraith unit making it a 4th model with t5 and jetbike movement 2 attacks at str 5 with warscythe and a 3+ invulnerable save) I can only really imagine sticking my pariahs with warriors and immortals. Although sticking em with flayed ones if they would then be able to infiltrate would be hella cool.
