Fate-Controlling Farseer

Fort Campbell

Alpha Take and Hold, this was my first fight against the Black Legion.  It was very bloody.

My List:

Epistolary with Force Weapon, and Power Weapon, Terminator Armor, and Fury of the Ancients.
Terminator Command Squad(4) with x2 Assault Cannons

Chapter Master, Bolt Pistol, Power Sword, Artificier Armor, Jump Pack

Three Tactical Squads x10, with a Plasma gun, and Vet Sgt with PF

Assault Squad x8 with 2 PP, and Vet Sgt with PF

Devestator Squad x8 with 4 Heavy Bolters

Devastator Squad x8 with 3 Missile Launchers and 1 Lascannon

Predator Destructor with HB Sponsons, HK Missile, and Pintle Mounted Storm Bolter

His list was roughly like this:

Tzeentch Sorcerer with Terminator Command Squad

Aspiring Champion (Daemon Host for Blood Thirster) with 4 Bike retinue

Obliterators x3

Bloodletters x8

Blood Thirster

Nurgle Marine Squad x 10 with 2 Plasma Guns and Sgt with PF
Rhino

8 Nurglings

Havok Squad x6 with 2 MIssile launchers and 2 Auto Cannons

Deployment was like this...

Turn 1:

He had first turn, turbo-boosted his bikes forward, and walked everything else up.  Fired his Havoks at my Devestators, did nothing.
I jumped the Assualt Squad forward into the buildings, and moved the far right Tac Squad into the trees, slowly working towards the objective.  My Devs shot at his havoks, and killed his two ablative wounds.  My pred opened fire on his Rhino, doing nothing to it.  Everything else opened fire on his bikes, the fear of god of that blood thirster getting into my lines throwing their bullets off, and only killed 2.

Turn 2:
His Bikes slam into my tac and dev squad, and rolls a 6 for his Bloodthirster.  I wanted to cry.  He keeps moving everything forward.  His Oblits destroy my Predator (yay wasted points).  His havoks manage to kill 2 of my Marines in the trees.  Assault phase, I have a Bloodthirster destroy my HB Dev squad.  3 die, they break, and one model gets about 1/2 inch off the table...  Yay, more wasted points.  He consolidates and gets into base contact with a Tac squad.
My turn, I get my Assault squad and Master into charging distance of the Bloodthirster.  Walk the other two tac squads forward.  My Terminator Command Squad deepstriked right behind his lines.  Opened fire on his Oblits, and killed 2.  Devs killed his Autocannon havoks.  For assault, I manage to wound the Bloodthirster, and lost an Assault marine.  Tied combat, everyone consolidates around the demon.

Turn 3:
His blood letters come in (within charging distance of the melee) and he moves his Nurglings towards my Terminators, gets into Charging distance.  His Rhino pushes forward and dumps  it's load out.  They open fire on my Tac squad not in the trees, or melee.  Killed 4 of them.  His Terminators kill 5 more.  Only one left is the Plasma gun, and he gets snake eyes on his Leadership.  His Havoks do nothing.  For assault, his remaining bikes get in with the Assault squad, his blood letters get into the Tac squad.  Two more wounds to the Bloodthirster, killed half the bloodletters.  Down to 5 Tac squad marines, 2 assault Marines, with the Master.  Nurglings get into it with the Terms, and I killed a bunch.  Consolidate in so my Lib can kill some.
My turn, I keep pushing towards the objective with the one squad while everything is locked in combat.  My devs finish off his havoks, and are now a useless squad. My lone plasma gunner kills one of his Nurgle Marines.  For assault, I manage to finish the Nurglings, but he takes a Term down (opted my Sgt, so I could get the extra PF in).  On the other end, I finish the Blood Thirster off, and one more bloodletter.  Two more Tac marines die.  My Assualt squad consolidates into the bikes.

Turn 4:
My memory is getting hazy at this point, but everything got nasty at this point.  I'm worried, because he's got two squads in range of the objective to my one.  He walked his nurgle Marines towards the objective, shooting at my lone plasma gunner.  He survives the entire squads fire.  In assault, I finish the blood letters and bikers off.  For my turn, in a bit of a panic, I decide to let my hidden tac squad try to save the day, and fire on his terms.  They wound 1 of them.  I throw my Assault Marines into his Nurgle.  They die (master taken down with a powerfist), but they reduce it below a scoring unit.  My terms come and kill one of his Terms.  1 wound away from making sure he has no scoring units on the table.

Turn 5:
He knocks my tac squad below Scoring unit level with his remaining terms.
My Turn, I get my few remaining models on the table, and open fire with everything into the Terminators.  I get the final kill, and there are now no scoring units within range of the objective by the end of the game.

We call the game a draw.

The only real mistake I think I made was in putting my Command Squad where I did.  I would have done better putting them on the other side of the forested hill.  Closer to the objective, and still in line of site to fire on most of his stuff.  All in all, a great game.

FYI, his list is illegal. You can't have any nurgle units in an army led by a characterwith the mark of Tzeentch, as per the Ancient Enemies rule.

Actually, his list has to be lead by the bloodthirster, in which case he couldn't have any slaanesh units. So he's perfectly legal.

My question is: why have a Force Weapon and a Power Weapon on your Librarian??

Only way for a termie librarian to get a second melee weapon.

not the only way. He'd be better served with a thunder hammer and a force weapon. At least the second weapon has a better purpose then.

True. I was just thinking of the cheapest way of doing it...But Thunder hammer would be a better way, even though it's more expensive.

True, a Thunder hammer would be effective against vehichles, but with 3 power fists already walking around with him, the points seemed redundant.
