ok found some pictures of some of the ships. I will be getting this game. I can play a simplified version with my 3 year old son. He already plays carcassone so i think he is ready for a game with Daddy's guys.

I know it's a game, but the scale still bothers me.

The scale and the prepainted collectible miniatures will keep my from spending any money on this game.  Too bad for Wizards, because I love Star Wars.

Is that what we're calling it this year, Master Lester?

I call it a Christmas tree, but I didn't want to make anyone mad.

I'm sensitive, women always tell me that.

That actually isn't a bad idea...

Hanging them from the Christmas tree, that is.

Is this why my buddy always used to wish me a 'Happy Chewbacca' in December?

At my workplace we erect a festivus pole every year, for equal concessions.

The smaller ships look a little chunky (like the X-Wing). And why does every toy based on that yellow naboo fighter have a bent tail?

I agree the scale puts me off a bit. Do the fighters represent squads I wonder? There have to be some concessions to scale or the x-wings would be to tiny or the capitol ships would be to large. I suppose they could have gone the route of the old BSG game that used a version of Starfleet Battles in which each side had one gigantic capitol ship from which to launch and support the fighters. Eh, either way there are other more interesting miniature games coming out, and aren't random, so I'll pass.

I noticed great differences in the bases, both in size and shape. I _think_ it is going to be something like, octagon base = very large (cruiser or station), round base = large (frigate or corvette), hex base with notch in front = small (fighter or freighter).

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Yeah I just don't get why they can't keep the scale consistent. I have no problem with the scale groups but even within a group they make no sense. The Imperial Shuttle is massive and the fighters still a bit too big to fit well with the others. Looking at the pics form the link above it looks like the Star Destroyer is the same size as the Imperial Star Destroyer. Stuff like that is just irritating because it is so easy to avoid. While the minis themselves are not terrible they are nothing special either especially now that we've seen Rackham set the standard (and not even collectible) for pre-painted. I'll stick with Babylon 5:ACtA, BFG, and AT-43.

The hex base indicates Dark side and round base indicates Light side.

That basing system sounds awful.
