Orlando - Chicago - and back again

I've recently decided to start playing Warhammer fantasy...

Armed with 96 of the old shortbow skink models, and 26 of the old Saurus (shield and hand weapon), and the odd kroxxigor... I feel a little overwhelmed about what type of army to build.  I was looking into the Southlands list, but I'm not sure... is it a viable army?  Any help/suggestions would be nice...

Ranked skinks means giving up what they do best- skirmish! I say just take many units of skirmishing skinks and frustrate your opponent by refusing combat and blowpiping him to death.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

I mostly use a very mixed lizardman list (and mostly of those old models). If you cut the curved top and bottom off the bow, it makes a fine blowpipe.

A big block of saurus is a great anvil unit, with some Krox and lots of skinks, it makes a pretty good starting army. I would absolutely invest in some salimanders next.
