Subject: Details on new Cygnar and Khador 'jacks...

... from the Privateer Press forums: ? Cygnar Hammersmith Heavy Warjack - Although built on the same chassis as the Centurion, gone are the intricately mechanized armaments, replaced by massive twin weapons known as Forge Hammers. The Forge Hammers are capable of rocking even the heaviest Warjack back on its heels. Every titanic blow pushes its foe back as the Hammersmith keeps up the pressure, striding forward to strike again in a cacophonous rhythm, like an ironworker shaping metal.
? Khador Spriggan Heavy Warjack - The Spriggan plows into combat like an unyielding avalanche. The ?jack?s tremendous weight allows it to stampede through infantry, crushing underfoot those too slow to avoid its lumbering assault. With its massive lance, it pierces the heart-fire of enemy warjacks. If its foes survive, it can fend off blows with its formidable assault shield?rugged enough to turn aside most any weapon and heavy enough to deliver crushing counter-attacks. Sounds like more new heavy jacks with a pile of special rules to complicate things overmuch and make for some hard card reading. It's hard to claim that the old heavies aren't becoming obsolete when you consider that their all their new heavies come with a ten page user manual.

While I agree that the newer stuff could stand to have less special rules, the early Heavy Jacks aren't even close to obsolete.

Hah! I've never left home without a Destroyer.
Or a Revenger... or a Lancer.
And I doubt I'll ever play a Cryx player without at elast a half dozen of the basic bonejacks...

Good one Chris, except I said heavy jacks. And it's true that some get used, but it's generally not a good idea. I mean, honestly, an Ironclad? A Crusader? Would you honestly choose them with all the newer options open to you?

Yup. Here in Belgium, at the last tournament I was at, a friend of mine won with a PURE prime list. Forget about GW for once, PP actually BALANCES units. They dont give their newer units amazing stats so they just sell better. Heck, Ironclad with critical knockdown and an AOE knockdown ? Who would leave home without one ?

Or a 93 pt Crusader that's Mat 7 POW 20 with a Choir. Turtle's just mad cuz he plays Cryx and has ifinitely better bonejacks than Helljacks. For the other factions... I think Prime Heavies remain staples for the most part...

Now with these new jacks coming out I'm not so sure anymore. that Hammersmith looks like it might be able to get players to leave the ironclad off the table.

The Spriggan will aid Khador in having a jack being able to hit infantry and Jacks. (this is based on the sprigg having vent steam as an option of course)
