Issue 99

Shawn,

I have just received the large shipment of terrain from you this evening. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. The Mine complex is a surprising favorite, and it looks like a great ‘entry point’ for some of our more narrative missions. I can’t wait to use them this weekend in our gaming. The giant citadel is even more massive than I could conceive from the picture. I honestly have no idea where I am going to be putting it. It is incredible though. The writing on the walls, and the freehand windows, all added together make for a stunning centerpiece. I can’t wait to see what our table looks like with all of the terrain on it at one time.

You guys continue to rock my socks. Thank you again for all of your hard work!

Respectfully,
Josh B.

Openings
We are currently booking projects for the week of December 11 (one slot still open), December 18 and later. You can send your project today and get immediate emergency-room-style attention. A team of pros will descend on your unpainted and/or unassembled figures and take care of them like a crack EMT squad.

On Stage
I started a studio Blog. It’s a good read, a window into the studio and some of my personal life.

Hungry Evil and Dead
December Special on Tomb Kings, Cryx, and Tyranids
Starting on November 20 and ending December 30, any project from those three armies can be booked at 25% off on Painting. The caveat is that we get complete artistic license.

Here’s an example of a Tomb King army that we did with complete artistic license:
http://www.bluetablepainting.com/view_gallery.php?galleryID=1094

A lot of thought goes into these types of projects. We assemble and paint it as if it were our own army, lovingly planned, researched, themed and executed.

You can send the models if you want. You can send assembled models if you want. We can order your models if you want. You decide the army list, OR we can even create the army from scratch (deciding on the army list, too!). Whatever you want!

Additional armies that we would consider under this program: Space Marines (we get to make up a chapter, but definitely something cool), Wood Elves, and Legion of Everblight. We’d likely only take one of each kind this month.

More Trollbloods
In the next few months, I’ll be putting out a Trollblood army that consists almost entirely of grunt warriors. I call it The Wall of Troll Meat. In the meantime, enjoy four new pieces.

I’ve been working on another Trollbloods project. They are my favorite army from both War Machine and Hordes—simple to play, but with lots of options.

These are called Trollbloods of Deepriver Kriel and they sport many of the same fantastic conversions as the first set, with some new additions, not the least of which is all three warlocks.

Bitz Policy
Blue Table usually keeps extra bitz after a project. This becomes a communal pot for our clients. We charge nothing (or very little) for bitz used in conversions. As the bitz wall grows and grows it’s nothing but good for you!

Up with Spreadsheets
A full complement of 40K spreadsheets are available in the Downloads section of our website. In fact, I uploaded a whole ton of new ones, and cleaned up the Downloads section.

Easy or Hard
Any model can be done easy or hard. It’s possible to finish the same model in 20 minutes or 20 hours. So, basically, what I’m trying to say is that we can accommodate anything you want. If you’re worried about price, just say so and I’ll work it to be the best looking army for your money—let’s just get the models on the table painted!

Death to unpainted models!

Ooooor, if you’re a collector, our Artists are perfectly capable of doing high end work. You can do every trooper like a hero if you want.

We’ll cater to you no matter what your desires.

L2 Beasties
A lot of people just want to get their army done to a decent tabletop standard. This is what level 2 is for. The cost for painting is half the normal price. Here are some Beastmen done to L2:
http://www.bluetablepainting.com/view_gallery.php?galleryID=1071

That’s $2.75 a model for basic infantry and $7.00 for cavalry.

This makes it very affordable to have an army done. You need to give some more lee way for artistic license, though this is generally a good thing. For those just joining us, Blue Table Painting scale comprises Levels 2-6. Regular troopers are usually 2-4, and heroes 5-6.

Dark Elves
We’ve got a Dark Elf army on the block. Scroll down.

Deals and Promos- Men in Uniform
First off, Blue Table now gives a standard 20% off on commonly available models that you would like to commission for assembly and painting. Some foreign companies are excepted (like Forge World, Dark Age and Infinity Games, etc.) since they only sell their stuff at full price and/or do not use US distributors.

Second off, Blue Table gives a standard 30% off on models for the men and women of the US armed forces. Applies to models available for distribution in the US, like above; for commissioned work. End product must be shipped to an APO/FPO.

All the best,
Shawn Gately

Truly awesome work on the terrain.  We've played several games on that stuff since Josh got it back, and it's just made the experience so much better.  The citadel is ungodly huge, and everytime someone walks by, gamer or not, they just stop and look at it amazed.

As for the Lvl 2 work, just want to put in a plug for you, and say that the work done for 40K models is extremely good, given the cost.  The condition of both my Eldar and Marines is steller, and I would recommend it to anyone who is on a budget and still wants a good looking army.

And for the last part.  Could you clarify on the Armed Forces deal?  Looking at starting a Guard army over the next several months, and I'm curious how long your going to have that offer running for.  And thats just for purchasing the models, right?  Not painting as well.

The Armed Forces program is currently being run for an indefinite time, at least through March of 2007.  I don't see any reason I wouldn't do it indefinitely.

I do ask for verification that the person is really a service-man.  An APO or FPO address is plenty, but I'd be glad to extend the same courtesy to a veteran.

Nice "bitz policy". Not. Like we need to lose another perk in this hobby with the pricing trend as it is.

Whoah, easy.

Clients can get their bitz back, every one if they want.  Those that want to put their bitz in the "pot" get their bitz for free, though.

I realize now that I should post the whole policy.  We don't force people to contribute.
