I guess i should first ask, if i buy a squad and they are allowed a transport upgrade, they dont need to be in it or near it?

If i buy a transport  for a squad that has infiltrate, but they are not mounted in the transport at the beginning of the game, can they infiltrate still??

Thanks for the help, been about 5 years since ive played.  Went to a local store and got the urge to play again.

Page 81 in the V4 WH40K rulebook in the "Deploy Forces" section answers question 1. It should probably be mentioned in the Transport vehicles section earlier on though!

The second question is only answered in the particular codex of your army. Really though, I can't think of a unit in any army that can infiltrate while it posseses a transport option (whether embarked or not).

Rulebook, page 81: "Deploy Forces" ... First paragraph.

So far as being 'near it'... the transport and the squad are seperate units. They can go where they want.
