Pretty simple. 500 point local tourney. WM or Hordes. Double list as SR2. Only 4 people showed so we played 2 games.

I took trolls. First list was Doomie, DTM, axer, impaler x2, min scattergunners, totem hunter. Second list was Grissel, DTM, axer, TH, champs x2.

First match was assassination. Played against Cryx. He was fielding Coven, max soulhunters, 3 nightwretches, twin pistol wraiths, min sataxyis with the sea witch.  Cryx took the first turn. Ran the 1 pistol wraith, soulhunters and 2 bonejacks. Advanced with the coven, chicks, the other pistol wraith and the last bonejack. Cast stealth on he soulhunters and imprison on a bonejack also catching the other in its aoe. Pistol wraith killed 2 scatter gunners. My turn. I moved Doomie forward. Cast dissolution to get rid of stealth. Fortune on an impaler. Ran the axer and DTM forward to threaten the horses and both bonejacks. Fortune impaler threw a spear at the SH leader, did 8 damage. Second imp was out of range due to me not using farstrike on him. Charged the end SH with my TH. Was just out of melee range for a failed charge. Advanced the scatter gunners to screen Doomie from the SHs. His turn 2. Cast infernal machine on a bone jack. Ran it forward into the back arc of Doomie, the one thing I forgot about. Moved the rest of the coven, gained perfect conjunction. Double stygian abysses. Survived both without having to transfer damage. Moved pistol wraith forward. First shot hit, transfered to axer. Second shot hit, was going to transfer it to the DTM but was told damage transference only happens once. Dead Doomie. (I've looked it up since then and can't find anything saying that, but it had also been awhile since he had played.)  Still not sure how I would've won with Doomie against that list.

Second match was against a merc army lead by Ashlynn. Consisted of a mule, gorman, Alten, the elven hooker, Alexia, maxed out Nyss archers, hammerfall high shield dudes. I played the Grissel list. Played the crossed line scenario from Primal. Kept my deployment tight and close to his. He split his army in 3 spots. Alten and the nyss on one. The elven hooker on another. The the rest on the third. I got first turn. Activated Grissel first. Cast rush on the axer and DTM. Hoof it on one unit of champs. Ran an unit of champs into the hammerfall engaging them. Ran the other unit over to protect thier flanks. Charged the DTM into altne and a nyss, killed both. Axer into nyss, killed one. TH into Nyss, killed 2. Next couple of turns consisted of us killing off each others models here and there. I managed to free up the axer and totem hunter and started moving them over to back up the champs. THe champs continued beating down the hammerfall, gorman, the elven hooker and all the risen and undead thralls. Alexia finally came down off her hill. Charged with the TH, she moved 3" away out of combat. She then charged Grissel, with 4 focus. Sucked up the damage from the first 2 attacks. Transfered the 3rd to the axer and she missed on her final attack. My turn, charged the axer into Ashlynn doing no damage with 2 boosted attack rolls. Charged the totem hunter into Ashlynn's back arc, getting a 3 on flying steel. First attack missed with a roll of double ones. Ashlynn did 3 points of damage to the TH. TH then hit on 2 consectutive attacks, the second for max damage killing Ashlynn. Grissel lived with a single wound.

One thing I noticed at the end, I didn't pass a single tough roll either game.


All problems can be solved with proper use of a high powered rifle and a water tower

You got screwed on the damage transference. May as well claim that only one focus on a Warcaster contributes to thier power field...

A Warlock can transfer one instance of damage to one warbeast by spending one fury point.
The only limitations are:
1. The Warlock must spend a fury point
2. The warbeast must be in your control range
3. The warbeast cannot be maxed out on fury
4. If you transfer more damage than the warbeast has in health points, the remaining damage rebounds back to your Warlock and cannot be transfered elsewhere

Yeah... you can transfer damage as long as you have fury... that guy was feeding you bollocks.

Honestly against the coven the most you really can do is head full-tilt into them and hope you don't have Arc'd stygians pick off your caster. Madrak is a better candidate for Assassins as he has his once per game 'No you didn't!' scroll and his Axe with Farstrike can be used to knock off the coven themselves if you can draw a bead.

Actually, in my experience, vs the Coven, the key is to have lots of tough infantry.  I'd be more inclined to use Grisell and "hoof-it" with Champ-spam + Krielstone, since the Coven can't reliably drop that many multi-wound ARM17/19 models...  This will force the coven backwards into their own zone.  Impalers are good for forcing the girls into "stealth" formation, further diminishing their power.
