You know what I'm talking about. What do you not buy in order to buy gaming
materials?

I stopped buying books (other than gaming source material and such), clothes
(maybe something that needs replacing every month), and I usually go out only
with my wife.

I stopped paying for internet porn and just get by on what I can find for free.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Umm...no car

True story; I'm an 18 year old college student who lives in his parents basement. I have no car, but this is mostly because of scheduling issues (job back in hs/college classes interfere with drivers ed courses) so I don't have that expense. The only other competitor is my historical collections; I'm corruently working on a 13th century rig.

It will score me points for wearing it while I comp. with my Brettonians...

I'm lucky in that I have enough disposable income (and no wife or kids yet) so that I can buy whatever gaming materials I want when I want them without sacrificing anything else in my life.

Which is probably most of the reason why GW prices don't bother me in the least.

Lol, accually Empire still stands as my favorite -- Bretonnian knights just ... turn me off I guess you can say; the models don't fit my fancy sadly enough.

well like anyting else you have finite time in yor life for leasure. you give up things for other things, aside from work and family needs.

as an example i used to ski, ride dirt bikes and street bikes etc... now due to circumstance and choice i do not do these things anymore. i do however set aside time for playing 40K and battletech once a week on my gaming night wheh i am not doing things at home, with the wife etc....

It's not money that causes me the limit (most of my excess income gets saved/invested for the future one way or the other), it's time.

If I wasn't painting/playing I'd be watching crud on the TV or reading a book.  Or, perish the thought: talking to the wife!

I actually haven't given that much up. I probably buy fewer DVDs and clothes than I used to, but not by a lot.

I sacrifice time from... well actually. A few of my friends play 40k so that time is hanging out time for me. The girlfriend likes to paint with me as well. Its not too much time sacrificed.

The money thing isn't much of an issue here. I did however make the mistake of telling family members what models I needed. Now I have to wait for Christmas. So I have to wait to do my conversions instead of just going and picking up the boxes.

I've given up the opportunity to take a trip to some tropical country this year, assuming I didnt touch any GW stuff. Painting gets in the way of playing guitar or dancing, so I suppose I'd be better at both of those...

Not very realistic sacrifices though. It's like saying "If I don't buy a car, I'll have enough money to get through college without debt!". I had fun, I would of played some other game if I didnt do GW, and the money would of been blown on something else.

I have to agree on the time issue at hand.

I'm married and my wife lets me spend all I want on Warhammer. That way she knows where to find me. I just don't have the time to assemble, paint, and play... As a result I have cut back on my GW purchases.

I pretty much have a limited budget. I am digging my way out of debt...successfully I might add. All it does though is limit what crap I buy. However, I have taken to entering RTT's to win my stash. It's been pretty successful so far too. I have basically been able to win virtually all my Vostroyan models. I also have sold some of my armies for extra cash as well, although that usually goes into the whole Pay Off Debt Coffer?. Time is usually a factor for me as well. There was a time when I'd play 40k just about everyday when I was in college and afterwards. But now, I get to play once a week on Saturday. That's my goof off day...
