Huzzah! Order made!

I'm really growing to appreciate BWbits. If you can get things before they go up in price (which is what happens when they're ordered in any quantity), it can be quite economical.

yeah, good luck with that sale. i ordered stuff from them 3 weeks ago, and it's yet to get to me. they said they were 'out of' the items i ordered. they FINALLY got back to me about it over a week ago, said they'd send my items out this past monday, and i haven't gotten them yet.

...and i live like 15 miles from where they're located.

...and their customer service isn't so hot either.

I think I like it RAW.

Christmas time is a horrible time to expect priority mail to take the usual 3-4 days. Also, when you order something that is backordered it takes time for them to restock it. You'd have these issues with any company.

i'm waiting for some of their discounted items to be bought up to see what else they have in store for us.

This is true, it does take time to restock. if you dont have it in stock, you dont email the customer with "well send it all monday" when you dont have the stuff.

In BWB defence, it probably is holiday shipping problems. USPS is glutted this time of year. I have stuff I ordered two weeks ago from other companies, I paid for 2nd day delivery and still havent received them.

But as many are starting to find out, it is "Pay and Pray" with BWB. When they first started out, wonderful service and prices I couldnt complain about. Now they have some system of raising and lowering the price of a bit because some dude ordered 5 of them before you. I understand supply and demand, I dont understand how their bits fluctuate like it was crude oil or platinum.

They said they'd send it now that they finally have it in stock. Or so his post says. Or at least it appears to say, albiet vague. Then again, many posts regarding 'problems' with business' tend to be vague. It's a strange thing I've observed.

I've had a fantastic experience with BWB. Between the discounts and the Bits trade in, I'll continue to shop with them.

Thats odd. I live in Australia and their service worked fine. There was a bit of a delay between my order and the bits being shipped but that was mostly due to me having to setup net banking + paypal and paypal taking an extra 4 days to clear payment. But when the stuff arrived everything was there an there was actually a fairly favorable error for me and I receieved a number of extra Marine heads. And I just made another order. I can't express my love for them enough.

Also they seem to be a very small business so in all likelyhood they probably rotate customer service. Its hard to justify being so harsh on them considering this. Now if there were a number of companies doing what they do then sure but since they are just a small niche busniess slack must be given. Plus the alternative is dealing with GW. And nobody wants that.

I have noted a couple of Ebay sellers/shops now starting to offer similar service, but not as encyclopaedic.
Including one in Australia, for whoever it was posted from down that way.

On the subject of smaller companies & delays or customer service issues, I know that the bane of many organisations (big & small) is if their processes are not designed to scale up in times of demand. So, when the rush of orders comes, the flaws in the process are exposed. I know this from professional experience and also as a customer of various types of supplier.

But there's also the postal service issues this time of year, of course.

He clutched it tightly in his hand and turned towards his foe letting it build in the twin energy spheres and then finally! RELEASE! I understand supply and demand, I dont understand how their bits fluctuate like it was crude oil or platinum.

Possibly because they're selling very well?
I bought 20 of the Chaos Aspring Champion Helmet when they were 2 for 1.75 and now they're one for 1.49.
Remember that if you're buying a lot of one specific bit, to the point that their stock of said bit will be challenged, they're forced to buy more of the sprue from which it comes, even though they only need one item from it. With the purchase of these sprues, the supply of the excess bits on the sprue goes up, yet there is no guarantee the demand for those bits will be relative to the demand of the bit that was requested in a high quantity. Thus they're forced to level out the cost elsewhere, ie, by raising the prices for the popular bits...

Ie, if I order 30 aspiring champion helmets but they only have 25 in stock, they need to buy 5 more sprues to fulfill the order, leaving them with a bevy of extra bits to sell. Are the extra bits as demanded? I'm not sure, but in many cases (like the terminator assault cannon, beakies, etc.) I doubt it.

To anyone who has already placed an order: Is the 20% off AFTER you place everything in the bin or are the current prices with the 20% off already (looking at you too, Devilfish!)? Reason I ask is the "mega-discounted" grab bag of random bits costs $20 in the "package deals" page but only $15 in the "mega discount" page.

The discounts are calculated after the items are in your cart. The grab bag seems be different for some reason. Just add stuff to your cart and you'll see the discount tally at the bottom near the total.  Also, remember that the 20% off is only for "bits" items.

I am going to place my order today. Now I just don't know if I should pay by credit card or, should I be real cool and pay via money order?

What should I do?

Flame bait?

Placing money orders is a hot topic, then?

God forbid anyone ever have a bad experience with a retailer/painter and post about it on dakka!! How can you possibly live with yourself after everyone else on dakka posts all of their wonderful no problem stories? You must just have a star by your name so that people know to give you crappy service, because if you had a bad experience and I had a good one...YOU ARE OBViOUSLY IN THE WRONG!

The moral of the story is, where dakka is concerned, no business can do wrong!

Money Orders are to much of a hassle.

Have to go out and get them.
Have to buy stamps.
Have to buy envelopes.
Have to send the letter.
Have to wait for it to get delivered.

I'd suggest the credit card.  Easier on them also.
