The title photo isn't working. I was curious to see how Yriel had been painted and see them facing off.
Cool report, though. Nice Blood Angels.

I don't see the primarch rules, but I'm definitely curious what you used (especially since took several turns to kill Yriel but didn't get hurt by a Wraithlord)

Neat report.
I like the B&C rules for the Primarch. They are bit complicated but overall seem quite fitting.
I still think GW is missing out by not putting out a 'historical' codex that has Primarchs and allows you to play games in the history of 40k with appropriate restrictions to the game.

I'm not seeing the rules either...
But, if they were using the B&C Primarch rules, maybe someone has a link to them?

If you go over to the B&C then use their search function and you should be able to find the thread with rules for all the primarchs. The rules I used for Sanguinius appear further down in the link I provided above.

Anything less than WS10 just doesn't seem right for someone as powerful as Sanguinius. I understand there's a need for game balance, but even so, Primarchs are supposed to be some of the most powerful mortals around. So powerful in fact, it's the reason we don't have them running around. BYE

GW did put out rules to their US hobby centers about a year or so ago as part of a promotion battle they were running. The rules were part of a packet involving several battles between Loyalists and Imperials during the horus heresy.
The primarchs and other characters they had detailed were (If I remember correctly), Rogal Dorn, Perturabo, Magnus the Red, Leman Russ, Lion'el Johnson, and Luther. There were two more, as there were 8 characters in total for the event.
The packet was spread over 4 battles with the final battle being the "seige of Terra". Each Primarch faced off against his rival in each battle, and Rogal Dorn was used at the seige of terra. There were no point costs, just the stats.
I believe they were all in the same realm as the greater demons and the New Avatar with S6 and T6, but I don't remember the other stats.

I agree with the comments regarding the stats for a primarch after playing the battle. WS6 is possessed by Harlequins, Yriel, Dante, statured deamon princes, and dark eldar HQ just to name a few units. Surely a primarch should be at WS8 or better. I would also boost their S and T to 6. Probably a 7 for initiative.

Deadly Dark Eldar Warrior

First I enjoyed the battle and pictures, great painting on the Angels, one of the best I've seen on them by far. However... I would not disagree with a higher WS, or even a higher Str but Toughness is a bit overmuch. Coupled with Feel no pain, his own special rule for regaining wounds, it would really make him near impossible to kill with 5 wounds, let alone making him immune to instant death. Also, normal Harlies don't have a WS 6, only very ancient and powerful Harlies do. Archons survive daily overcoming countless uprisings, not to mention the history of The Fall, and various other little things that leave them feeding on the souls of countless indivduals for their vitality. I just don't see that he really needs a higher Initiative. I think Eldar by their very nature are lithe and agile, and the longer lived Eldar, i.e. Phoenix Lords, Archons are trained killers devoted to War. I don't think a super human in a powerful suit of armor is as quick let alone supernaturally quicker than these individuals. I could go on about Demons and such, but I think you see what I'm saying. Looking at the rules it does not seem that he has furious charge listed, but if he did that would give him Init 8 on the charge, but a higher Init is just overmuch. Just my opinion, for a fair time for your opponents, lets not build the perfect character.

Primachs are virtual demi-Gods. Straight 10s would not represent what they are capable of. Sanguinious lifted a Bloodthirster into the air and then snapped its back across his knee. And that's a fairly tame example compared to what Vulcan and Russ did when they met the Emperor. BYE

That is all well and good, as I said his strength could be higher, not initiative or toughness. What does toughness and initiative have to do with lifting a Bloodthirster into the air and snapping a demons spine across his knee? The real point should be playability, not making him a demi-god. The Avatar is a God of War, look at his stats. Phoenix Lords, who have lived as eternal warriors look at those stats. Sure he is a ton of points, but look at all the specials abilities. Stats are only part of the picture.

If you read the rules carefully then you would have noted the primarch did not automatically get Feel No Pain, and in the case of this game I did not pass the psychic test to be able to use it. T5 is okay, but definitely a very high weapon skill and initiative are needed to properly represent a primarch. There is no way that Yriel should be able to go toe to toe against a primarch.
Note that I did not write the rules for the primarch.

If you make them expensive enough it all works out. While they are not viable for a small game (less than 2k) they can certainly work out well in a 5k+ mega battle.
