I just saw this on Tabletop Gaming News. Thought some of you might be interested. Check it out. I think it looks alright, but that sword looks really messed up. Link: http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=5309

Are you sure that isn't a Tim Prow miniature?

Horrible... everytime I look at it, the more I dislike it Skinny, un armored legs... wtf? Insanely well painted shield and cloak... crap metallics on body and sword? mini is way too top heavy for my taste.. sticking with my two existing paladins. really disappointed, because I really liked the alt models all the others ( JWC, Manhunter and Pistol Wraith)

Sorry, dude. I was just trying to keep from stealing your bandwidth. I thought I was doing the nice thing, and I cited my source. Guess I was wrong. You could have just PM'd me yourself and I would have taken it down.

Posted By Hordini on 01/12/2007 11:28 AM Sorry, dude. I was just trying to keep from stealing your bandwidth.
I can't tell the difference between that and someone doing it for other reasons unfortunately. I have the site protected from hot linking which is the only "bandwidth" related issue I ever had. Its not the same as reposting them to save bandwidth for a messagebaord or personal website. We're expecting and hoping to get lots of traffic and so we try to accomodate that, We moved ISPs and I have more bandwidth than I know what to do with now. So I'm more than happy to have people use bandwidth to view the images on TGN. Which is a good thing as traffic to the site is insane now. But that is a problem I am happy to deal with :-) Images are here if anyone is interested.

That was my policy until this month when doing so generated all sorts of negative comments and people complaining on other message boards. I just don't have the time or the energy to deal with the fallout and unfortunately because of a few people complaining about this my policy is to simply contact the image host and ask them to remove them. This sucks when it impacts people that, to be blunt, aren't being dicks. If anyone does want to repost images from the site you can contact me and I will be happy to allow you to repost images that I hold the rights to. There is a small note to that effect in the site's footer now. Unfortunately I can't do that for the PP and Rackham images as I don't have the rights to do that .

No problem at all. Feel free to PM or email me if you ahve questions about images in the future. In general I tend to only really care about the PP and Rackham photos since I don't have the rights to distribute them and PP did, in the past, stop all web sites from getting access to advance images due to the pictures ending up all over the web. I'm not sure that Rackham cares at all but its not my perogative to make that decision for them.

I don't understand the deal with Protectorate swords. That one is not the only ridiculous sword in the line. However, a simple weapon swap is not going to save this mini. I love the Journeyman and the Manhunter, too... I guess I'll just have to content myself with the Daughters of the Flame to fullfill my need for hot chick knights. It looks like a club.

Maybe they use the same cast part to be consistent across the range?

Where I work - we like to call this the "Purple Kool Aid Syndrome". No matter how bad it is, PP thinks you're just gonna drink it up and ask for more. When the Purple Kool Aid syndrome takes over, quality goes down hill and pricing goes way up - hence the new Paladin figure.
I wonder how much of this the PP fanboys will put up with before they start grumbling.

If you read the PPS forums, you'll see there are actually quite a few people that aren't happy with the new paladin, nor the PW/JWC/MH.
Its not like quality over the entire range has gone downhill... the new Cygnar Rangers and PoM Daughters are proof of that... they are some of the nicest sculpts to date.

PP's customers complain about sculpts all the time. Just ask them about the Winterguard. So the question is, why do we keep buying the figs? (EVEN the winterguard, which I'm actually ok with). We love the game. So yeah, guess I'm a fanboy. I still haven't decided on whether or not I'll buy this fig.

Whether or not this is a good sculp, its a good trend to see Privateer Press providing alternates if only so I don't have two identical Paladins in my Protectorate force (I will not be buying this fig, though I do play PoM.) Between these and the Iron Kingdoms line, there is a growing ammount of differentiation developing. I've often been critical of Privateer Press's game in comparison to Warhammer because of the lack of individuality. The very core of Warhammer and 40k allows for an amazing amount of customization in your army, between different magic items and weapon choices where Warmachine is sizably more static. That customization is something I'm missing in Warmachine. I like the new alternates, whether I'll buy them or not. And along side the new Bits service, I look forward to more encouragement to convert my figures.
