This feels like a rather dumb question, but I've been out of the hobby for a while, so here it is.

Harlequins can take Harlie kisses. What about their character upgrades? Troupe Master says power weapon or kiss at no extra cost, so fine. But can the Death Jester and Shadowseer take kisses also, or is the Shadowseer stuck with just the standard Harlie equipment? In a general sense, are 'character' upgrades in squads restricted to only the options directly listed for them?

In most codices, there is a restiction limiting upgrade characters from taking squad weapon/wargear options. The new Eldar codex does not say this ( it would normally be on page 59 under "options" ).

So yes, any Harlequin character may upgrade their weaponry, including characters. However, the model must have a close combat weapon to exchange for the Kiss. In the case of a Death Jester, he replaces his CC weapon for his Shrieker Cannon.

So in short, the Death Jester may not take a Kiss while the Shadowseer can.

Great. Makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
