  To help balance the Hand to hand armies vs Skimmers moving fast is to simply allow them to penetrate skimmers in hand to hand. The balancing factor is with the hand to hand troops already hitting  the vehicle on 6s so a simple penetration of the skimmer vehicle even if it moves fast can make pure hand to hand armies stand a chance when assaulting skimmers.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

It's not in the rulebook, thats the point, it's a proposed new rule.

As far as giving hand to hand armies a chance against skimmers by allowing penetration in hand to hand, I assume this means suspending the glancing hits only rule for skimmers moving fast for assault hits.  I suppose that would be a reasonable balance, but it really flies in the face of theme (who cares necesarily) a distant aimed shot  is dificult because of speed, but it's easier to throw a bomb on it?

I guess I like it, for game effect, but something feels wrong.

If you want to know about skimmers requiring a 6 to be hit in HtH, it's in the "vehicle in assault section", under "skimmers", if memory serves, and if you want to know about glancing hits only vs. skimmers moving fast, a specific skimmer section exists for that. If either of these rules are what you were refering to, post as much and I'll post the pages later today (assuming someone else doesn't put them in here before that).

well they already have exceptions for hand to hand action against skimmers with some vehicle upgrades

so why would it unbalance things you need a 6 to hit but then why should speed cause a bomb to only glance because it moved fast?

I don't think we would but that's the way it is.

I think with my powerfist Sgts I should be able to reach out and punch someone no matter how fast they're moving. Ripping the circutry out of a fast vehicle seems like a nice way to bring it down. Still, I think it would gives orks a better chance against Mech Tau and the like.

Also if a vehicle is moving that fast and a fist actually contacts wouldn't the speed and inertia rip half the side of the tank off along with the vets arm.

Well, I think in this case it would be Skimmer vs. Sarge - 1:1.

But seriously, I would like to see that happen. Just because I don't understand how a double shafting of melee troops against skimmers balances things out. But maybe someone could enlighten me about that.

ALL hits against fast moving skimmers >6 inch are glancing:

BRB Page 69 Section 1 Paragraph 1 Sentence 2

Hitting a skimmer in hand to hand requires a 6 (and represents a special case):

BRB Page 71 Paragraph 9 Sentence 1 (and reference table same page)

Hitting a vehicle armor penetration is D6+S

It gives Orks who already have a hard time against skimmers a better chance and balances out. Its hard enough for a walking ork army to get into hand to hand with a skimmer force but it does give them a chance along with other hand to hand armies.
