What faction is the 'mech for? It looks a bit... Therian. Rather unlike anything I've seen for the human factions. Could it be a new non-human race?

it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Up your nose with a rubber hose.

It's called an Avatar and is the TAG for the Combined Army (aliens) faction.

"Avatars are the ultimate expression of war machines designed by the Ur Rationalists, designed to host an Aspect of the E(volved) I(ntelligence) in combat. In this way, it can control first hand what is happening on the battlefield without having to depend on slow organic support. Avatars are equipped with automatic systems and semi-intelligent weapons that make them look like wary predators, even when they are on stand-by or disconnected by the EI. The images taken from the battlefield show them as silhouettes entering and leaving local space, their hulls shining with sequences of particles, scintillating defensive, gravitational and suppression fields, target acquisition and holographic weaponry controls, a radiation of technology covering the entire spectrum from x-rays to hard light. All around them, the local space continuum swirls around and shines. In reality, Avatars do not need to move in order to hunt but their machines and systems are faster than humans ever could be..."

Why does one of his hands have 5 fingers and the other only 3?  Did the sculptor just forget what he was doing?  Also, not even Rob Liefeld made feet that tiny.

Oddly enough, the only thing here I like is the "80s scifi earpiece chick."

Tiny feet and chick aside, that's hella cool. Not making it onto my list by any means, but very neat. Just to check: this is a new faction for Infinity? Or am I that out of that loop?

Looks like it... the concept artwork there only has 3 on each hand.

Sure it's derivative, but to date, I've never seen anyone do anime miniatures as well as Corvus Belli. As for the pose, that may just be the fault of whoever assembled it. Supposedly it's got ball and socket joints to allow a varity of poses.

I was wondering about the fingers too. Regarding the feet, from what I've gathered about these guys on the Infinity forums, the tiny size isn't inappropriate. These things phase in and out of space-time and use gravitics and energy fields to move them around. The "feet" probably just aid in stability when in combat.

The Combined Army are a relatively new faction. The starter set hit the shelves a few months ago. The deal with them is that an artificial alien intellect called the Evolved Intellegence has subjugated a number of other alien civilizations such as the Morat and Shasvastii. It uses them in its quest to absorb other species so that it can evolve further. Think of it as an "evil" Tau empire, run by an artificial Hive Mind.

I initially assumed the base was specifically sculpted to convey the weight of his impact on the ground.  Given the gravity control nonsense, though, I suppose one could argue it's supposed to look like some kind of, uh, gravitic waves emanating from the feet are disturbing the earth, the way water-walking insects' legs create ripples around them on the water's surface, but... honestly, this guy doesn't in any way convey the sense of weightlessness necessary for that, at least not to me.  Maybe if the entire rest of his body followed the same slender, graceful design aesthetic as those lower legs it would be more convincing.  As it is now, he just looks like a big silly gorilla trying to perform ballet.
Some of this, as you said, may be the way he was assembled.  The positioning of his (strangely mis-matched) hands, especially, seems to say "your table is right this way," rather than "quake in fear at my arrival."  I'm not sure why his neck is so ridiculously over-extended, either.

While he lacks a lot of surface detail, all those open spaces scream for a a super custom paint job. I really dig how a lot of the Infinity sculpts are almost like they just stepped out of some Masamune Shirow manga. While I don't play the game, I might pick this up just to paint in some hyperpunk fashion.

I really want to like the infinity stuff, but it keeps looking somehow a little off...I think they're technically well done, just that the particular affect they're going for isn't quite doing it for me. The smaller, 'man-sized' figs (like the drones and infantry) come closer, but the bigger battlesuits and what-all just don't quite cut it.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

I love the Yu-Jing, Pan Oc and Nomad TAGs. This one, not so much.

It does look very Warmachiney (kinda Cryxlike). Which isn't so hawt.
