No way Space Marines is getting redone it Chaos that getting to do over. Then the only other books left are the Blood Angels and Space Wolves Codexes that would HAVE to be between the Xeno Codexes for that the way they have always done it this release cycle. I think its all but offical that they will be releasing Apocalypse this summer with another Codex (most likely Orkz) coming out later in the year.

Space marines are not getting "re-done" as such, most likely the new codex will bring them a bit more into line with the rest of the 4th Ed. armies. Perhaps it will also include some of the changes introduced from the new DA codex.

I still think the SM codex is too new for a redux. But I've got no "inside" sources so whatever.

No plans for redoing the marine marines right away. That part is just rumor. Codex Armegeddon is this year.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I was told by a very reliable source that work has already begun on the DE dex. They will have some fairly major fluff changes and a near total overhaul of the model range.

I was told that they will be stirctly pirates now, much like rouge trader version eldar, only meaner and even more bitter than in the currant dex.

One thing I heard that I honestly cant even imagine how it would be implemented, or why as i think it would be stupid, is that DE warriors will be carried by Raiders but will actually hang onto chains suspended under the raider. that sounds lame to me aesthetically, and not even very realistic from a modeling point of view, but who knows, perhaps that is somthing my source heard about from artwork and not actually how the models will work.

Outside of that, i was told that the concept work for the new look was "awesome" but that is obviously a purely subjective statement.

Time will tell. I hope we get a new DE dex, i have always liked that army.

DE are squishy to begin with, I'd hate to see what happened if they suffered prolonged close exposure to an anti-grav field.

Now what would be cool (and gee I wonder where they got this idea) if the actually swung from chains from the top side.

See the pirates? see pirates sea pirates.

I wonder if the new models will have cutlasses and eye patches. This would be cool in a corny 1980s Gorka Morka GW sort of way.

I also heard a couple months ago about DE concept art beginning in earnest.

When that happens, the army and codex isnt far off. I like to think that the rumoured release for that would be mid to late 2008. Possibly a couple months earlier.

I can only hope they don't redo the codex without redoing the model range.  Off the top of my head, the only thing that wasn't garbage was the Incubi.  The RT-era plastic sets were better looking than the plastics the DE got stuck with.
I jump with joy at the thought of GW ditching the god-awful soul vampire torture fanatic fluff and just making the DE pirates.

Yea, no kidding. The Incubi were the ONLY thing good about the DE model-wise. And what about the absolutely atrociously lame characters? Decapitator? Bwa ha ha... I hope they definately go the Pirate route. Maybe add in some Exodites and they could be pretty damn cool.

From what i have been told the pirate route is a go, supposedly Cammoragh is destroyed and all that is left are fleets of Pirate raiders.

I have to agree though, the model line pretty much stinks. The incubi are cool and i actually really like the Raiders, but most everything else sucks. Hopefully they ditch the fredericks of hollywood look. Models like the Wyche's could be great, same with the reaver jet bikes. The basic warriors need a big time overhaul too.

Anyway, time will tell.

You heard wrong. Design was finished quite a while ago.

And about how much of the range is being redone. . .can anyone say Wood Elves?

I think Dark Eldar probably most fit my playstyle, from all of the "Xenos" lists. But I absolutely hate the models. Horrendous. The only thing I liked were the incubi, and even they weren't great, just good.

My first love are my DE, but I must admit, the Orks NEED a new codex. Period.

I love my DE and they were my first army and, just recently due to a request, I have blown the dust off of them. Going to give them a run for a local themed league. But, a new codex for the would be fricken sweet!

-New models cool
-extreme fast attack cool
-modifying fluff away from bad Hellraiser movies cool
-Just don't steer them away from how they play now. I am afraid any new codex will turn them into armored monkeys or something. DE have some nice builds and that needs to be added to. I am leery that, because they do well against marines, they will be nerfed.

I've heard several times that Comorragh was destroyed, but it's mentioned in the new Eldar Codex fluff.

What's the deal with THAT?

Wait, so they're going to change them into the old RT-era "Path of the Outcast" pirates? Good. I never understood why we needed two different kinds of Eldar Pirates, anyway. Maybe they'll get Prince Yriel as a space character! Oh, wait...

Not sure, but I beleive that was part of the eye of terror fluff.
I guess like drow in D&D there are many other DE cities in the webway besides Commoragh.

Menzoberranzan is not the end all beat all of drow society, but it is the most familiar, much like Commoragh. (shame though, I really like the name "Commoragh" )

It wasn't destroyed, but several webways leading to it were cut off by the Eldar, leaving it largely isolated. It remains to be seen if this will have any effect on DE attacks.

IIRC, this was one of the few tangible advancements of the storyline to come out of the EOT campaign...
