Typical Rackham, really. Very ornate, very impractically so. Just look at that hammer, it looks like a sculpture, not a implement of death.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Well if it wasn't over the top it wouldn't be Rackham.  I myself think the model is beautiful and can't wait to see a studio paint job on it.

You either love Rackham or hate them, there is no in between.

It is beautiful, in a sense, but it doesn't look like something whose purpose is killing people by turning their bodies into a mass of crushed bone and torn flesh. None of Rackham's models do, there's a sort of otherworldiness about them that makes them look strange in my eyes.

I do wonder what one of them would look painted in a realistic manner, covered in dirt and filth, and adorned with the scars and stains of the battlefield. It might be an interesting dichotomy between form and function.

Just go to their website and look at the models other than Lions. They are *all* covered in scars, gouges, rust and stains, and so on. Rackham has always painted like that.

This thing has got to be Rag'Narok only, points-wise.

But, it will make fielding a Brotherhood of Bronze force there that much easier, I think!

I am looking forward to seeing how Rag 2 turns out (crossing fingers here)...

This just doesn't say "Golem" to me, especially not "Steam Golem". It looks WAY too close to a Warjack for my taste and (I agree with what's been said) it's a little OTT.

I don't know why but whenever I think of a Steam or Iron Golem, I think of the Iron Giant - no idea why...

My problem with Rackham is that my painting skills just can't do the sculpts justice.

I've tried to lern to paint more good, but i can't.

A work of art.

They're certainly dirtier than what I see on CMON. I really, really hate their NMM (which to me looks more like lead or stone than steel), but that's a different matter. The Lions of Alahan look like fairy-tale soldiers, not a speck of dirt on them, that's true.

I think the whole line has a very fairy-tale, dreamy (even nightmarish in some cases) quality to it.  I think that's part of the point.  I don't think it was ever Rackham's intention to depict realistic soldiers on a realistic battlefield.  I think once we embrace the concept of magic, reality goes right out the door.

I think this one is a gorgeous sculpt and continues the eldritch theme of the line.

Kudos.
