Why isn't the annual chapter approved book for 40k published anymore? I propose they republish a 2007 chapter approved, and include in it: Kroot Mercenary List Chaos Legions lists not covered in the codex LATD Feral Orks Abhuman Imperial Guard Doctrines Armored company. and maybe modernize the rules for each of these a bit. Furthermore why not also include the rules for kill team games, Xenos Kill teams, and any of the other articles that are hard to find and any of the lists they offer for download. ? They could even include the FAQs on the website, with effective dates, so players could have a nice hardcopy? With a Blurb that future codex releases would invalidate the previous entries in Chapter Approved, effective on their release dates.Or they could call it a compendium. ? Since they have all the material already for this why don't they do it? They use to? Who wants to see Chapter approved return?

Yeah, who needs Chapter Approved books when you can have PDFs for free? I'd rather see some more Epic miniatures, personally.

maybe its not published because we already have the same information in the 2004 or was it 2003 or the 2002 and its pretty much the same stuff.

Chaos Legions lists not covered in the codex? I thought rules for all 9 legions were in Codex: chaos

No, they just came out with a new printing last month without telling anyone and they left out the rules for Word Bearers, Alpha Legion, and the Sons of Malal.

Pretty much, but shock of all shocks, not everyone has acess to the internet so it would be nice if they would provide an alternative. Other articles that should be included in CA (besides what Augustus already mentioned): Chaos: Blood Pact & Mounted Daemonettes. Eldar: Perhaps an update on the trial Harlequin list on the UK website? IG: Xenos Mounts & the extra Tanith special character rules. Orks: Clan rules. Space Marines: updated cursed founding (LotD) rules & the 13th compnay army list. Witch Hunters: Zealot rules. Tyranids: updated spike rifle/strangleweb rules? Updated Seeding Swarm list? Also, I'd really like to see the return of the cut-and-paste corrections for the stealth updated codices (Iike CSM and IG). But Augustus: The simple fact is that GW doesn't like the CA annuals anymore, and CA in general. This compilation is dead dead dead for a while at least.

I freely admit most of the topics in proposed rules, or discussions represent pie in the sky, or if I was king of the world type impossible dreams, ah well. I just post this stuff for discussion, and to see who else might have something to say...

You can't be serious, can you? It's a bad state of affairs if one can be this easily fooled and worse if it's actually true... Posted By yakface on 02/15/2007 7:38 PM Posted By jfrazell on 02/15/2007 12:57 PM With the exception of abhuman doctrines aren't these already on the GW website? I'm sorry Yak, but I respectfully disagree with you here. This might have been true five years ago or more, but today anybody and everybody old enough to play the game has access to the internet (and a printer). Even if they don't own a computer nor have said access at home, work or school (the latter highly, highly unlikely), it is available at any public library and places like Kinkos, computer kiosks internet cafés and such, all which also provide printer access (usually for a small fee). There really is no excuse for missing material *not* to be published online (at a minumum), especially for critical things like errata, FAQ's, rules updates and the damnable stealth updates to codices. While a "Chapter Approved" book would be nice, it unfortunately seems to be a relic of (better?) days now long past.

Further, if you don't have access to the internet (even homeless now have access to the internet), then frankly you shouldn't be messing around with GW/40K. You should be getting a better job or pursuing school with all zeal to get out of your present situation.
Having said that I too wax nastalgic with Augustus about the old Chapter Approved books. However, not only are they a thing of the past, but I fear these alternate lists, etc. etc. are also. Am I incorrect that, since the announcement ending CA articles, there ahve been no new articles of note?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Hah, see, I thought you might be doing just that, but given how many times GW has done a "stealth release" (four, five times now with Codex: CSM?) it's no wonder we thought you might also be serious. Very telling of how little faith people have in GW these days...

They'll not get my old torn, dog eared, falling apart and other wise obviously used copy until they pry it from my cold dead hands!
That is, it's a pretty darn good Rogue Trader book. Space Pirates and Mercenaries! Space Orks, Space Elfs and Space Men need only apply.
