So I am looking at using the GW figure cases for my WFB Dark Elf army, but I have 2 question before I go out and buy the "big green case."

1. Can you get more foam for the cases?  If so, where?

2. Are GW cases the best for transporting WFB models?

Thanks in advance,

Darrian

I don't play WFB but I have dark wyches and cold ones for my LATD force (and some orges for another item). Based on their larger size rerquirements, I'd specifically check if you can modify the foam to make slightly larger compartments to fit these unusual sizes before you made any purchase. From the GW site it looks like you can, but if you're able to get a real one in your hands (say at a GW store) then I'd verify that in person.

The GW site says "standard." They actually look like foam I can order from Sabol. Do you have the capacity to see this case in person and take a piece of foam from a regular GW case. If it fits then you can order additional foam - at least at GW, and more likely at other places as well more inexpensively.

I have a GW case. There's no problem cutting pieces of foam out and swapping them around to accomodate different figures.

You cannot get foam for the big green case.

I know a kid whose case was run over by a Hummer SUV. While some models broke, they ere metal parts that were glued on. None of the actualy models were damaged otherwise.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

I prefer them for transporting 40K figures, but they'll do Fantasy fine too.

As Pariah Press said, there's not problem cutting and removing bits of foam to fit odd sizes. I've seen Dreadnoughts fitted in this way.

They're not great for transporting larger models like cavalry (which severely reduce the space capacity) and the default slots are poor fits for larger than average models like Fantasy Orcs or 40K Tyranid Guants. If you go for the double case and since you're playing DE, you shouldn't have too many space issues.

It's also very hard to fit larger models like dragon riders, a pegasi, a cauldron of blood and the like into the case.

On the plus side, it holds secure and it hard sided and very durable.

Get a Quik Cart from Linen n' Things http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2207020&cp&sr=1&origkw=quik&kw=quik&parentPage=search and use the foam from inserts from Sabol Army Transport. You can basically put two foam inserts side-by-side and stack them up to the top. This will let you take everything in a sturdy case instead of having to tug around two or three of GW's cases.

Thanks, I was hoping you'd appreciate it rather than get in a huff.

BTW, I've heard pretty good things about those quick carts Breotan mentioned. I'm thinking of picking 1 up myself.

That Quik Cart looks great.

Do you know how high the cart is? I'm not sure it'll fit in the trunk of my car...

The Quik Cart is about 13 inches inside.  Add another two for the wheels, base, and lid.
