That be the BA ven dread and a really cool Ogryn mutie with inderblock and steel rod. I hope they ,ake more. Need more chaos stuff. The Krieg is unbelievable but there is very little in the way for Chaos aside from spike fence rails.

I heard rumours of a standard daemon engine with turret and weapon variants, daemonic artillery as well as a new chaos tank not unlike the Leman Russ but with unique features.

Nice stuff, but the big mutant is something i wasn't expecting to see...for the dreadnaught however, well, it's a space marine dread.

Shame about the "no plastic korps", though. We'll have to see, I guess.

I'm not quite sold on his primitive hammer. A rock stuck to the top of a pole?

I think it is supposed to be a piece of concrete attached to re-bar that he pulled out of a building or something.

I could live with that.

But certainly not at what they're going to charge.

The mutie is incredible. I know if I was a eight foot tall monster with crap sticking out of my face, I would rip whatever was nearby out of the ground and beat suckas with it.

Sure, it wouldn't survive many uses, but in the grim darkness of the far future, there's a butt load of stuff laying around.

I think that mutant is pretty sweet as well.  And if you don't like the ripped-up concrete weapon, doing a weapon swap for that guy would be pretty close to the easiest conversion on the planet.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm doing all of my own mutant conversions, but the big mutant doesn't look very "chaos mutanty" to me; he looks more "industrial waste mutant", like the Toxic Avenger or something.

I agree but he fits in with the theme of the traitor guard they've been going with as the adversaries for IA Vol5 (against the Kreig).

I'm guessing they're kind of Nurgle aligned (because of all the Gas masks) but not corrupted enough that they've gotten all fat yet.

I know my first instinct when I think of Chaos is spikes and tentatcles, but that really isn't necessarily the case. Mutations are Chaos gifts only bestowed upon the loyal who have proven themselves. Most human warriors dedicated to a Chaos power wouldn't be mutated at all.

And regardless of how they look, I'm just happy that any division of games workshop is finally putting out some more human Chaos models (the last ones being the metal bare-chested cultist models).

I'm really looking forward to seeing the other poses for the Big Muties.

Heh, I think I'm just bitter.

The model itself is really nice, but since it's Forgeworld, I've really come to expect that.

And I didn't look at the context either; I haven't kept up with the IA5 stuff at all.  The monkey is slacking!

The "no plastic korps" thing is the one thing I don't get. The FW models look great but if you take a good look at them you find they are not that complex, to me anyway, and it would be easy to make them as Plastic. And they will sell them by the ship full with all the desire for them. Hell I got steel legion that looks close to Korps troopers but even I want a few boxes of troops. I will not make as much per unit but they will make that and so much more on bulk sales.

The big mutant looks spot on, totally inline with the chaos militia thus far. Love the enormous improvised beatin' weapon too. Really the only thing I don't like are the tubes flailing about in front of the model - perhaps they are supposed to ape tentacles and such? Would have liked them hooked up, tucked away, etc ... Regardless, really looking forward to seeing this guy's friends (if not his price tag )

Also, I really like the Dangel Dread's head for some reason. Nice and battered, with the little hoses and such going on. I think if I had had the choice I would have used this head on my Alpha Legion dread, despite the excellence of the AL dread's proper head ...

I like the big mutant but it is a bit of a let down for me. Right now it looks way too much like an ogre kingdoms iron gut.

In fact you could convert this easily out of the plastic yourself. Green stuff the gas mask as theres not that much surface detail to the mini anyway.

I would have really loved a more distinctive and original model, something with an improvised ogryn gun or maybe a massive heavy stubber. This concrete block isn't too bad it just looks way to much like the club weapons on the ogre iron gut sprue.

It looks like they really didn't have many ideas for this particular model. I think it could have been so much more distinctive and original. If you look at the quality of the other cultist sprues and the Krieg I was expecting to see a choas ogryn or mutie that was really really special.

This one is just average. I hope some of the alternative poses use different weapons or are more distinctive.

True about the big mutie looking a little ordinary. However, I think he's supposed to be one of three models or something. I also heard the campaign background involves Nurglesque forces invading a polluted hive world or forgeworld; hence the need for re-breathers and why the Krieg are ideal troops for this choice.

Is it just me or is that space marine head on the Venerable Dreadnaught just ruin the mini? I thought the marine was entombed inside the machine not sticking his head out.

the idea is that its a mechanised head with cameras and auto senses. Not literally the marines head. If you look your notice that its much larger than a marines actual head and is just a representation of the fact that the machine is piloted by a venerable battle brother. So that his brethern can have a link to the fact that he is still a marine inside the tomb.

But I agree that I prefer the old style crypt dreadnought.

You mean the new style crypt dreadnought.  The new venerable dreadnought is the old style because it's venerable.  So that means the venerable dreadnought is actually the new old style.  And the crypt dreadnought is the old new style.  I think that's pretty clear.

But what about the old old style "Eddies" and "Chucks" and "Furries" (oh, wait...) from the days of the Rogue Trader? Back in those days they didn't even leave the poor interred space marine any room for his power armor much less space to stretch out or elbow room! Poor guy, crammed in there like a sardine in a tin can, stuck in the fetal position for the rest of his artificially extended life, why if they didn't redesign the things even loyalist Marine dreds would constantly go into fire frenzy or berzerker mode just for want of a stretch or desire to scratch that itchy neural interface plug!

Back in those days the dude wasn't interred, it was just a regular guy driving it.

Nope, check the Compendium, they were definitely being hardwired in RT era days though I don't think it was quite the same as being enshrined (entombed) forever in a glorious walking space deth machine and was more like "Oh, tis a flesh wound, eh? Well, welcome to being a Space Servitor for the rest of your life!"

I remember a story about a marine requesting a new dreadnought because he'd wrecked the one he was driving. But contradictory fluff and 40K are like chocolate and peanut butter. They go hand in hand, make you fat, and produce phlegm.

Well, you're partly right anyway. They were hardwired in (in the foetal position) but they could also get out, so it was a temporary thing. Also, the Imperial Army (Guard) also had their own Chucks, Eddies and Furies back in the original day..
