Hello Dakka-ites!

I need some advice here. I'm having a tough decision on how many Bright Lances I should take with my Eldar army for an upcoming tournament. I'm not running any walkers so I'll be depending on tanks, Vypers and Wraithlords. I'm going balanced with my list, so I'm not really leaning Mech Eldar either. I love the Mech Eldar, but I feel like I'm going through the motions and not really putting too much thought into what I'm going to do when I use them. No disrespect to any other Mech Eldar player out there! I'm just looking for a different game.

Do any of you run with a minimum amount of BL's in your list when it comes to tournaments?  It's not like the Eldar are hurting on limited choices for anti-tank busting, but I just don't want to come up short in that area in case I'm up against the Mech Marine or Mech Tau. So far I'm thinking 3 since I'll be running some dragons and a fusion blasting Autarch too.

We need to see a list before we can tell you if you need any.

Tournament lists in general require A LOT of anti tank weapons to compete with most tier one lists.

This should really go in army lists; I'll go ahead and move this to the proper forum later today. Though the original question is a bit of a split between Tactics and Army lists, any such question really does come down to the balance of weapons in the list.

The first place that leaps out at me to get more anti-tank is on the Wraithlord. BL/EML is only what, 155pts? BS4 and it?s barely more expensive than what you?ve got. Go for the two big guns.

After that, if it were my list I'd rather upgrade the guns on the Wave Serpents than take BL on Vypers. You spend 45pts each instead of 75 and you get twin-linked. You do have the downside of putting more points into a non-scoring unit which your opponent already wants to shoot at, but the accuracy boost is substantial.

If you put BL on the serpents, you could drop one Vyper and change the other over to Scatter/Shuricannon or dual Shuricannon and have it go for side armor. Or even shave a few more points and do a squad of two with a total of four shuricannons. S6 guns can be quite good on vehicle side/rear armor. Once nice less-seen use for Eldrad is throwing Eldritch Storm to spin enemy tanks around. It?s only 18? range, but it doesn?t need LOS in the new codex.

Any particular reason you?re paying for all the upgrades in the Fire Dragon squad? They would seem an obvious spot to shave points.
