Most of my friends think of my dark eldar as the mot overpowered thing in the game. They usually have to tailor armies to beat me, and even then victories are hard, few, and far between. In multiplayer games, the general tactic is "attempt to kill the wyche raiders, ignore everything else until they are gone" I have had a friend even threaten to forfit when my wyches assaulted, only deciding not to after some long convincing.

Here is my question, has anyone else had this issue, or do most 40k players have no trouble with these evil elves?

Orkses is never beated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die so it don't count as beat. If we runs for it we don't die neither, so we can always come back for anuvver go, see!

I play De myself, most other players dont expect a first turn assault and dont understand that De players need too use tactics too survive the game.
my first 20 games playing De I was wiped off the board every game Ppl began too think of my army as a easy win then, Not until i read a few message boards and refined my list that i was doing to them what they did too me.( that when i heard Cheese and beardy for a few players) but the ones i got postive remarks were great like your army has dakka in it or I like how you hid you transports during my shooting phase, out numbered the cheesey one far more now.

To answer your question player will tent too have split opinion on DE. It all goes too there past experience with them. If the player was weak and had weak list they wont blink a eye at the DE.
BUt if the list was strong and had a good player, they will say that ur cheesey and beardy...

If thier is enough terrain DE are very hard to beat in the hands of a competant player. Although they are beatable but it doesn't sound like people in your group are adapting or learning to play better. Definatley not over powered tho'. Podding marines can give you fits because you can't hide your Raiders anymore and they usually pin down the unit inside for a round allowing them to wipe the rest out in the following turn as a example. MC lists can be tough to because the high strength of the MC ignore one of the witch rules ect as another example.

depends on how your playing them.

Portal DE is a tier 1 list. (and they usually beat the pod lists too...)

If your playing the air force list, then your already reliant on both adequate terrain AND first turn to be dangerous. To me it just sounds like your friends are whining because you keep winning. Just lose several games and it should stop.

The best thing you can do for yourself when people cry cheese is offer to play them again, but swap armies.  It will tech them how hard DE are to use, and when you thrash them with their own army, they'll have no other recorse but to admit that it's the player, not the army.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair.

If someone is calling your Dark Eldar cheesy then that is a compliment as it really does take a good player to make DE a nightmare to any other player. Its that kind of army some people either underestimate or know what you are about. While DE do like to go first in many situations, I usually opt for 2nd turn for several objective based missions and I rely on decent terrain on the table. If there is less than 10% terrain on the board even the best DE player will lose that game if the other side has a half decent shooting phase.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.
