This boxed set contains enough plastic components to assemble forty (40) Warriors/Longbeards, forty (40) Thunderers/Quarrellers, two (2) Cannons/Organ Guns, twenty (20) Miners, and a pony with cart. All models are supplied unpainted and require assembly.

Well, it's about $250 worth of minis for $175. If you need everything in it, or even most of the stuff in it, it's a great deal. It's more geared for a gun-line style army with 40 thunderers, but you could also fool around wiht some rangers as well.

its a good value if you can get that army for 25% off ($131.27) when ordering from some online retailer....

Personally I feel that these large plastic army deals are some of the only decent things GW are releasing.

The Tau one was great value and actually gave you a half way decent army (as opposed to that awful Eldar battlefoce. 5 dire avengers anyone?)

I'm really glad that they are expanding these to Fantasy and opening up the game to new gamers. I'm sure many of us have had the all metal special unit choice nightmare in the past. "I really want a 20 orc unit of Black orcs... but ye gods forsake me.... the price! The PRICE!"

I think this was a real issue before for getting new hobbyists into fantasy. I remember as a GW staff member having to try and convince a kid not to start Dark Elves because they had only one plastic core unit. Second mortgage time for those pointy earred bad boys.

 

What, people looking for good value on a Dwarf army deal???

Take a peek at the Discussions forum; Black Tree design is having a sale of all their fantasy stuff, and their dwarves are comparable to GW's (slightly older style, but not bad). They are metal though.

As long as we're going on about avatars. Derflam, the dwarves are a good deal. Therefore you must avoid them as you would only bring your bad mojo to them...
