This list is built as an anti necron list, though could do well against any infantry MEQ list.  I have been playing for some time, but still find it difficult to beat necrons.  I play the same guys and generally don't make the meanest lists possible.  I'm not a slouch and can generally paste most of the games I play against marines, death guard, black legion and nids.  But crons can be a toughy.  Particularly since its once in a blue moom that we play any game with an objective other then kill the other guy.

I have only been playing DE for a year now and have only gotten in 2 games.  One was a draw combat patrol and the other wiping out a sisters army.  I'm hoping to get in some carnage against the crons soon and decided to show my enemy what a real mean MEQ masher I can create.  As I said I don't do this often; I play and IW army with only 2 heavy choices and no obs.  I just want to get out of a rut, wipe that imperious look off the lords face (can necrons look imperious?) and prove a point.  I still enjoy games even when losing, though such a consistant streak can be vexing.  So here it is.

My foe favours mostly necron warrior and destroyer units.  Lead by a lord with an orb and veil all of his units are very sneaky to use the cover available until in range.  I'm hoping the mobility most of my units have can negate that, especially those damn veilers.

The beasts, reavers and both Kroot units start on the table with everything else in reserve.  The carnivore unit deploys in a large piece of forest that is always in the middle of the board.  They provide fire support and a distraction from the other units and will get into cc if needed at the 11th hour.  The hound unit hides behind cover in case he gets first turn.  I'll still take destroyer fire, but should be safe from turn 1 rapid fire.  If I go first the hounds will attempt to get a 1st turn charge on a warriors unit without the lord.  The beasts move up hugging cover and attempt to wipe out as many destroyers as possibe, they can at least keep a large unit out of the shooting phase for awhile.  The reavers boost into cover and find a suitably nasty place to drop the portal and the real fun can begin.

The Archon and ret will zoom out asap and get into cc.  With luck the archon and his guard will charge the necron lord and wack him in the first turn of cc.  A warrior unit on foot follows to help screen the first ravager to emerge.  Ravager 1 and 2 hunt down opportunity targets and when the third arrives they collectively beat down warrior units.  My own warrior squads are largely screens for the skimmers with some big dakka punch if they get close enough.

What do you think?  I know its all a bit long winded, but I felt like dissecting my brain fro whoever wants to add advice.  A couple of final notes.  I toyed with giving the ravagers nighshields, but at 60 pts thats a big investment.  I'm not normally a fan of DE special characters finding most too pricey, but Drazhar seems perfect for this role.

3 Reavers - succubus and warp portal 141  the portal is illegal to have as you cannot have a portal and jetbikes.  Now the DE codex says characters on RJB, but the RJB + WWP = no no same with Skyboards.

2nd point, Warp beast without Wyches is considered a no no as well by the sidebar.  You cannot take Warp Beast without wyches per that sidebar.  But, being a 0-1 unit you'd figure you could take one, but with no wyches they are a 0-0 unit.

The list overall is very killy and lots of disentegrators makes Necrons sad.  I prefer to not have a Lord with Retinue, it slows him down, however the minimal approach of having the warriors keeps him faster, Drazhar slows him down, no fleet.  On his own he could 12" assault. Now, I really like Drazhar and this unit has quite a punch.  However in shooting you will use the 5+ of the warriors as they are the overall save.  No combat drugs or shadowfield is not too bad, I'd give him drugs at the very least to pump up the strength.  Maybe even haywire grenades in case a Lith shows up.

What I would do is drop the iffy illegal units, and pull in a squad of Grotesques.  Auto run if you win combat, and a Lord with Init 7+ will run down many a Necron Squad.

Another trick is to try and get the Necrons to pile in away from the Necron Lord, that way they might be out of assault.  Trying to assault 2 squads at once is a must for DE, so if one orbs out you are still in CC and not open to shooting.

Whoops, over looked those bits. Too bad, I love those beasts.

Heres the revision. Those illegalities passed by me, its been awhile since I made a DE list. The lord and the ret are mounted in a raider, so should have little problem getting into cc, depending on where I put the portal. The drugs are pricey, and after he kills ones cron he has s5. Drazhar should keep him alive from the only real threat to him (necron lord). I don't expect a lith in 1600pts, but its a simple switch for haywires if ones shows up.

I decided against the grotesques because they're just get eaten up for destroyers. I took the large raider unit to ferry the portal and a second smaller raider unit to screen the other. The extra disintegrators won't hurt either. So the two Kroot units and two raider squads are the only units that set up. If the lord loses his raider at some point the hound pack is very mobile.

I like it now, yeah I figured it was an oversight.  Not a purposeful thing at all.

Well most crons are T 4, so Str 5 is nice but Str 6 is butter to his bread.  I tend to atleast take drugs for that purpose alone.  Hit on 3's wound on 2's   I find it hard some games to actually get the slaves in one round, and crons tend to not run, but just pitter and port out.

The key is to make those disentegrators pay huge dividends.  You could easily get 5+ under one when the teleport.  Oh look that whole squad is dead from one Ravager and you have 3   Speaking of which I need to make another I only have 2.

I don't think I've ever seen a Dark Eldar list without a shadowfield. Probably worth investigating. I'd go with a few more dark lances, especially on the warrior squads.

I'll have to think about giving the Archin drugs. It was a matter of making him cheap. I've never used a shadow field as for 25 pts it doesn't seem worth defending a 100 pt lord with it especially since it can fizzle out. At any time Drazhar can take the lord's place so I'm not too worryed about him. Lances aren't a very good idea fighting crons. The only armour is the lith and haywires as the best tool. My troops will be too mobile to stop and snipe. Thanks for the advice.
