Well, I'm a tenth of the way through the pictures I've taken.  I hope to get another write up or two done later this week.

Here's a few more pictures that show off the level of armies present:

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I played against them in the first round of the 40k Championship.

Alex was a nice guy to play, but my Word Bearers had to crush that pink heresy.

I was really tired and I forgot that the first turn was night fight. So I set up everything in the rear of the table. I had no icons near him, so I had to fly my demon prince at him. Well, after weathering his fire, I summoned some Bloodletters that scattered 11" right at him. I guess they thought that the pink chaos marines were Slaanesh, and started to cut a path through them.

If it was not for that lucky scatter, I would have lost the game. Whew! It is better to be lucky than good.

That's the way it goes with daemons. A good scatter can be very nasty. Alex was on my team (Cold Steel Mercs); he said you played a solid game.  He felt like he was clawing his way back into it for a couple of turns, but was never able to recover from those early daemon assaults which all scattered toward his lines.

Holy hell, strawberry chaos marines! Fantastic! The kroot are very cool too, but the conversions are superb in that sisters army. I would have had them pegged at one of the hardest to convert, but there it is, awesome conversions with rock solid paint jobs. Still trying to figure out what the ghosty sisters figure is with all the guns ...

Thanks Russ, and nice work to all the armies I've seen so far, SSCChaos included

great... now I have to decide whether the strawberry shortcake chaos marines are more gothically cute than the hello kitty sisters of battle.. and I'm just not sure I can make that decision...

Nicely painted all, better by far than the hack jobs that are my models.

Strawberry Shortcake:

Alex explained to me that all the tanks are named after Strawberry Shortcake's friends. I did check to see if the marine's hair smelled like fruit ... they don't.

I got to play a game against Brian's Kroot, and they're completely stunning.

I shared my display and judging table with Alex's pink marines and the story behind them is as much fun as the models themselves.  They're Alpha Legion, and they're sowing disorder in the imperium by dressing up as 'Imperial Marines' and then attacking systems so that the imperials think that they have a new traitor.   Good stuff all around.

I know I've been flogging this image around, but I never thought someone would actually build the Poof Patrol:

Seriously, that is fantastic. I love it anytime when someone takes an an army concept and completely turns it on it's ear. Like the "Hello Kitty" marines. That's really great. Sorry the marines hair didn't smell like fruit. Perhaps it was the player's hair you were supposed to smell?

I think Malfred was looking for more "cute and x rated" as opposed to "cute and hot".

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I got to play Alex in round 2 right after Blackmoor.  Table quarters with infiltrate and his getting turn 1 make for a short rather one sided game.

He's a great guy though and while it was the 2nd worse loss all weekend for me, he did make it an enjoyable experience.  Well, as much fun as losing to pink marines can be.

Alex's fluff is that the real Strawberry Shortcake chapter are loyalists. His army is (usually) Alpha Legion POSING as the Strawberry Shortcake chapter to sow confusion and chaos.

BTW, Lemartes- your avatar is excessively large and breaks the tables. Please scale it down to around 80x80 or so.

Call me a grumpy old man - but I fail to see the point in doing silly armies.
When I play I do it in search of a "dark future"-feeling.
IMHO "fun" armies are as bad as unpainted ones.
Not impressed.
