Hmm, I'd be really interested in hearing about how the Yellows perform. That's the biggest weakness in the current Citadel range.
The Black will be nice too for patching up a big base on the pointy bits of BFG ships that always get scratched or lose their paint.

I'm going to buy the boxed set when it comes out later this month from my FLGS where I get a discount on GW stuff. I've been replacing my Citadel Colour with Vallejos and Derivans over the last year or two anyway, but these paints sound good. Well, except for their individual colour names, some of which are the stupidest thing ever.
Macharius Solar Orange, anyone?

I've been using them for a few weeks now, and really like them. They cover very well, and go on smooth. The have a feel to them somewhat like the old smelly primer. Very nice for basecoating. Even the yellow and lighter colors were covering black easily. The red is a favorite, I used to do several layers of red over black, now just one to get the same effect. They went on well over unprimered plastic and metal, but I need to go back and see if the models painted that way hold up as good as with a primer coat. I'll probably still always use a black primer first, but it's nice to know that in a pinch I can just sit down and paint something on a rainy day. The set is a decent buy at 45.00 for 18 paints, saves about 9 bucks. They will be out individually later for 3.00 each.

What Vallejo paints do you guys use? I've been looking at getting some Game Colours or even Model Colours but I've heard that there are some problems with GC being less pigmenty and the MC being prone to rub off. Also been looking at Reaper Master Series paints that have a lot of colours that I like and I've heard great stuff about them. Just pricey for a the whole set!
Sorry to hi-jack and oh I've tried the Foundation Paints myself, couldn't believe my eyes that I managed to paint at least a dull but opaque yellow over black spray in ONE coat.

I've been using them for about 6 weeks now, and I have to say, as basecoats, I love them. (they over power the other paints when blending, but that makes stage highlighting go that much smoother because of the gradual change) they cover beautifully, and dry very quickly (almost, but not quite too quickly) the new colours are beautiful, especially the granite, and it was really nice seeing deadly nightshade....I mean Necron Abyss coming back!

I still have a pot of deadly nightshade lying around, and glistering green and maybe a few others. As for the foundation paints, they have to be one of the best things that GW has ever done ( now theres something new )altho, the fact that they are made in china as apposed to france with their 'old' range is kinda off-putting

I use a mix, but mostly Game Colours because of my fear of rub-off. MC work well for small details and things like that (pouches, and other parts of models that aren't handled much) but since I seal all my figures, I haven't run into any actual problems with either.

Sweet! I still have a pot of DN, but I was afraid to use it for anything major because I'd never be able to get more. Sweet!

My local Gw has been advertising them vetry heavily. Mostly by claiming the boxset was limited edition (I doubt it is) but also offering anyone who preordered a set, would receive a grab bag on the day of release including approx £30 of unsellable stock. Mostly older eldar models and damaged boxes.
The paints cost £30 for 18 'so you get thre free'. hence a unit price of £3 each. Personally I do think they will be worth it. I have paid for a set. Some colours I might not need so much but overall the deal was good so why not. some colours like Tallarn Flesh and Iyanden Darksun will be frequent purchases for me.
One of the things I found was that not only can you paint yellow straight over black undercoat (the reason why Iyanden Darsun will be a good seller) but all the paints will paint straight over plastic with no undercoat at all. They dont do so well on bare metal though.
Hencfe I used the shop demonstration to paint some of my own models. Small detailed parts such as heads benefit from not needing an undercoat, and Tallarn Flesh makes a good undercoat for any type of 'caucasoid' skin. They also have orks covered in the paint range.

yes the P3 paints are thinner and smoother, but do not cover nearly as well I have the menoth paint set with the whites, yellow and reds I do like my P3s, and they are nice paints, but serve a different purpose. the Foundations are all about basecoating smoothly in 1 coat, the P3s are more for your subsequent layering and blending. Together, they will make a very nice combo.

My local Gw has been advertising them vetry heavily. Mostly by claiming the boxset was limited edition (I doubt it is) Actually, that's true. They will have them available in singles for 3.00 each soon after the sets come out. June? May? I forget offhand. Sets will cease to sell once the singles are out. It costs more to package the sets, and they are selling them for less. No real reason to make more than they think they can sell in a month. GW US got in a good amount, but not nearly enough to fill demand. (My own opinion, based on using the paints myself.) It won't be hard to get the paints the first week, I think. After that, I expect stores to start running out. I started taking reservations at my shop, and got a lot of requests, and subsequently ordered a mountainload of them.

My local Gw has been advertising them vetry heavily. Mostly by claiming the boxset was limited edition (I doubt it is) The boxed set is limited. Once they are gone, you'll have to purchase the paints individually. I'm not sure I'll pick up these paints or not. Right now I'm very happy with the Reaper Master Series paints.
