Squid with chainsaw and H.I.T. are simply awesome. Wow. Oddly enough I actually don't like the demonette, but that's personal, as the piece itself is fantastic as well.

I like that terminator(?) with the chainfist. Is that a terminator? I can't tell. It's kind of nurgly, but not really.Maybe slaneesh? His blaster is pretty cool.

That jetbike is so totally aces, though I think it could do without the flames. Cool use of the defiler head.

I hope the plastic Terminators will be nearly as good as those guys. Awesome.

I saw Alan working on his piece in Montreal last fall and I must say it is even more impressive than I would have thought. Just Awesome

I am waiting for the French GD entrants to start complaining about the Spanish entering there. For the past 3 or 4 years all the jaw dropping stuff has been from Spanish entrants.

Does anyone know the breakdown on nationality for the GD entries?  I am curious to know if Spain is still dominates the continent.

Yay for the demonette entry. Painted well without ridiculous chest proportions. And the cigar guy's just plain cool. He's a manly man who's not afraid to wear a revealing wet t-shirt. He doesn't seem to have any other wet clothing so either he just drank a keg or came back from a space marine "initiation ritual".

I have a love/hate relationship with threads like this, as while I love seeing minis of this quality, they only reinforce how much I suck at painting.

The French seem to have the best painters out there, along with the Spaniards. I don't really get why that's the case, is it some sort of lineage back to the great masters?

You see a lot of "oil painty" style from them. I'm not sure what the actual artistic terminology for it is, since I'm ignorant, but they do a lot of very realistic, earthy tones, a lot of very smooth blends... Very impressive to a hack such as myself.

I think they eximplify the artistic side of painting. For me, mini painting is just a craft, like making horse shoes or something. I know techniques, I bash away at them, I get pretty good results. These guys are actual painters, painting a picture on a 3d surface. That's why beyond me.

All I have to say is WOW, simply WOW.

See, this is why we Brits fought Waterloo! So that these cheese-eating foreigners wouldn't rule the planet with their superior paint-fu and ninja-pantbrush skills.

Yes, these are painters who happend to use metal/plastic instead of canvas.  Doesn't inspire me, just puts me in awe.  Vive le France!

 

Those minis make me sad that my painting skills aren't that l33t. Damn SpaniFrench, depressing me like that...

Bravo. Just first rate it makes want to cry because I will never achieve that kind of greatness with my painting.

I would have thought for sure that some of those models were in Inquisitor scale at least, with the amount of detail obtained.  Definitely a different class, I hope that the French golden demon models are at least heavier than the US versions or something.
