I'm keen to start an Empire army for Nemesis Crown but really don't like most of GW's range.  Any ideas for replacements?  I'd like to keep with the Landskneckts theme but I'm open to anything.  I saw a Spanish only website not long ago that had Conquistodor themed Outriders.  Can't remember the address or company name, though.  Other possibilities:

Ancient Chinese (no handgunners, maybe convert crossbowmen)
Perry Samurai (mmmmm, Samurai)
Perry ECW
Foundry Rennaisance

That's all I've got.  I mostly need replacements for the State Troops and Knights.  For now I'm stuck with the old 6th edition plastics.  They're not great but they're loads better than the dreadful new ones.

Edit:  Here's some pics of Gamezone's Outriders on TMP.

I toyed with doing a Perry Samurai Brettonian army at one point. Empire would also work.

The spanish company you're thinking of is Gamezone Miniatures. They've got some new outriders out now; hawt. Apparently, they are a bear to put together, though...

Black Tree design and Foundry are also worth checking out; closer to GW's older style of figs (indeed, some BTD stuff are 'knockoffs', and some Foundry figs are VERY old GW molds) but they often still hold up well.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Gamezone!  That's it!  Now that I'm looking at them again I may have to do Dark Elves, if only for their cavalry. Or Lizardmen.  Dagnabbit!  I was all but decided on Empire and now look at me.  I'm all over the map again.  Gamezone Predators are sweet! There are some really good pictures at Artemis Black's.

Thanks for tip, syr!

Is that harpy hero eating the guy's face? Nice!

Also, those predators are extremely great big nasty lizardthings, and I am in full support of the number of female dark elves in that line. Topless ones too in some cases, w00t for that. I do think it's funny how closely Gamezone is supporting the GW DE line, and stomping GW in the process naturally - although I will admit GeeDub's DE line is a good one, and GZ falls short in a few places as well.

Best of luck in whatever army you do!
