Well I have my first list for the Trollbloods.  This list encompasses what I have with the exception of the two scribes.

Ironhide

Axer

Impaler

Mauler

Champions

Stone Bearer unit at min

I know the list is very melee oriented and hope it goes well.  I expect to get my first game in this weekend and know about the learning curve.

What would you all suggest to take this list to 750 points?

I think you're short about 35ish points. That list is exactly my Madrak list except I have a Fell Caller filling in the excess points. You definitely want to put a Fell Caller in there as he is great for buffing the Champions with his various Fell Calls. Plus, he's not bad in melee on the charge too and can help bodyguard Madrak. Or, you can throw in some Swamp Gobbers and fill up the KSB unit with scribes. The Gobbers will give you some nice screening from shooting and cloud protection as you advance.

It's a solid list and should do fine against most things, but it's really slow. If you are playing missions with objectives you'll have an uphill battle against fast armies. The Fell Caller helps some in these games since he can give your Champions Pathfinder.

Make sure your Champs are kept in base-to-base and in Surefoot range so they benefit from all the +def bonuses. Def 16, Arm 19 champs with 10/8hp and tough are the toughest guys in the game. Also if you stick them in the flying V formation they can't be slammed back, and everyone except the guy in the very front will have a screening bonus to shooting. Not to mention with Surefoot on them, none of them can be knocked down.

Don't worry about having a melee heavy list...that's what trolls do best! Just walk up with everything behind the champion V and smash them in the head until they are dead. You don't need any of those lame tricks other factions have to rely on.

To go to 750, well I'm not sure...I haven't reached that point myself either...I'm waiting for Evolution before I go up, as who knows what other units we'll have in there that I'll want to take.

Thanks Acheron;  Yea I hope to get the Fell Caller this weekend and maybe the swamp gobbers.  Both of the hobby shops I play at have been out of both.  Just trying to get started with what I have done.

Yea Evolution looks very interesting, I like Grim Argus and the winter troll, still not sure about the earthborn troll and I am waiting to see what else will be on its way for troll bloods.

Thanks again

Looks good, maybe a bit beast heavy imo.

If you want a real melee beatstick list I'd recommend 2 units of champions. I've used Madrak in every game I've played bar one and Surefoot on the Champions makes them especially nasty in combat (Def 16, no KD). That should also help take it towards 750. Stick

My usual list is

Madrak
2 x Impalers
2 x Champions
2 x Fellcallers.

It is a nightmare to play against, and very hard to wipe out. I'm looking forwards to the Winter Troll come June, definately be swapping one of the Impalers for him.

How about...

Faction: Trollbloods
Army Points: 744/750
Victory Points: 25

Chief Madrak Ironhide
Dire Troll Mauler
Troll Axer
Troll Impaler
Troll Impaler
Fell Caller
Fell Caller
Krielstone Bearer and Stone Scribes (6)
Trollkin Champions
Trollkin Champions
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew

?

Winning isn't important. It's the taking apart that counts!

I think that the only problem with the 750 list you've put up is that it's really slow. Nothing moves faster than 5" base besides the Fell Callers (who have to stay behind the champs in general anyway). While in kill-the-caster games this doesn't really matter, it will really hurt in league/SR type games where you need to get to control points ASAP.

With this list you would be giving your opponent 1-2 control points before you were even able to get to the control points. A smart and faster opponent would basically run all his stuff onto the the control points first turn and then feed you roadbumps to stop you from getting to the points to contest them. I had this done to me in a game against Menoth. He went first, got a control point first turn. Then second turn he just fed me waves of Zealots/other junk that I couldn't kill or move past. Third turn I cleared out the zealots, but by then it was too late and he'd already won.

I think it'd be really beneficial to take maybe a unit of Kriel Warriors or maybe even Pygs to contest a point for that first/second turn. Plus, I'm hoping our troll cavalry is good, we definitely need some faster elements for league/scenario games where taking points is really important.

If you won't be playing league games or SR3 scenarios, disregard this post. That is a brutal list for anyone to face in straight out brawls.

Well yes I will be playing in the league with my trolls.  I have seen the one you are speaking of and hate it as much as I do the water one flooded lands.

I have played with my cygnar force against circle, Kadhor and Menoth with both of these league games and let me tell you the controll point thing is a pain when you get 3 on the first turn and he gets 3 on the first turn and then we spend 6 turns fighthing over the other 3.  Or the hill get occoupied on turn 1 and then we fight over it for 6 turns.
