Well, I have some bad news for you guys, I was getting tired, and I was concentrating on the game, and I forgot to take pictures. I took full pictures for game #4 and 5 though. so stay tuned!
Since my last win was a massacre, I went from table #42 all the way down to table #18. I was finally off the lava tables…yeah!
So, when my opponent showed up, he looked kind of familiar. Although I had never met Kesher before, I had seen his picture when he took 3rd place at the Baltimore GT a while back. When I asked him if he posted on Dakka, he said yes, and that his name was Kesher. I remember him calling out Mauleed with his Thousand Sons, but then showing up with Iron Warriors. He was surprised that I remembered that since it was several years ago.
On to the game…
<st1:city><st1:place>Mission</st1:place></st1:city>: Hold at all costs
This mission you had an attacker, and a defender. The defender could set up any of their troops and heavy support (minimum of one unit) within 12” of the center of the table. Everything else is held in reserve. The attacker started with nothing on the board, but moved their entire army on in turn #1. They attacker also goes first.
This mission got the most complains out of the GT entrants this year. The mission was awful. For most armies the attacker had a huge advantage.

Kesher had a very “unconventional” Iron Warriors list, but I knew he was a good player, and not to take him lightly. It looked like he was set up for infiltrating, but only the attacker got to infiltrate his units in this mission.
I won the dice roll to see who would be attacker/defender, and I had him defend. He chose to just start with one 6 man Las/plas on the table.
Turn #1
I move my army on to the table. I have 2 turns to move before he will get his reserves on, so I bring my Dark Reapers on to the far left in some 4+ cover save that can see just about the entire board. Everything else just moved forward looking to cover the objective which is the red marker in the pictures.
I shoot at the squad in the center and kill them down to 2 guys.
Iron Warriors turn: he shoots my falcon with his lascannon, and destroys it
Turn #2
I grab some cover, and prepare for his reserves.
He gets most of his army on and sets up. He has his raptors with his Lt behind the rhino with a couple of squads, and his oblits behind it. He has his missile launching havocs behind the chaos codex, and his heavy bolter havocs in the middle of the table. His basilisk is on the far right.
The oblits take a couple of shots at my last falcon that is on the far left, but they are unable to hurt it. His basilisk shoots at my dark reapers, but fortune keeps them alive.
Turn #3
My Dark Reapers kill 7 out of the 8 Heavy Bolter Havocs. My harlequins get out of the falcon looking to kill the Raptors hiding behind the rhino, but he has a 6-man squad in the way. I kill 5 of them (the other one is out of the kill zone), but he is out numbered and runs. I consolidate into the raptors and the LT.
He assaults the Harlequins with his oblits, and the Harlies kill his raptors. I roll well for my Harlequins Inv save, and I end up with 2 left alive. They jump out of combat, and head for his missile launching havocs.
At this point he is getting pretty chewed up, and my there is no way that he can get to, or have any hope of contesting the objective, so he concedes the game.
I wish I had a chance to play him with a normal mission, and to see what his army could really do, but it was not to be.
Kesher got to beat on Yakface in the next round to get some of his frustrations out.
Result: Massacre
So at the end of day 1 I had a tie and 2 massacres for 50 Battle points.
On to Day 2 of the LVGT and part 4 of our 5 part series: Table #6 vs. Word Bearers.
