  One of the rumors I have heard about codex Apocolyse is that they will be releasing a Necron Lord on a Tombspider body. I heard that it will be the current destroyer Lord torso on a new tombspider-like body.

 

  The only question I have is: What is the point? What advantage could this give? The only things I could come up with are a base toughness of 7, more close combat attacks, the ability to care heavier shooting weapons, or just a super-good way of resurecting fallen necron. After all a Necron Lord creating scarab swarms would just be silly, and just a waste of points.

You sure that the person who told you this rumor didn't just see a picture of a conversion and make a giant leap?

I know GW is kinda oddballish when making model release decisions, but really, the only necron lord that needs to be released is a walking lord with a Staff of light.

I too have seen these rumours on Portent/warseer and dont beleive them one bit. A couple people that are quite accurateabout releases pretty much denied their existance.

Methinks it has started because some fanboi on warseer said "wouldnt it be cool?" and then people gave the thought form as if because it was written that it has to be true.

No no no!  This is all wrong!  There will NOT be a Necron Lord on a Tombspider body.  That would just be ridiculous.  The Necron release for codex Apocalypse will be a Necron Lord on a Monolith body.  It will be the current destroyer lord torso on top of a Monolith (in place of the crystal).

It's still unknown what in-game effect this upgrade will bestow.  Some speculate that it will allow Monoliths to be taken as Troop choices.

And reduce the cost from 250 to 25

And they will count as Necrons.
