Do the rule changes which made rubrics twice as resistant to big guns and half as resistant to small guns than before make sense?

When I think rubrics I think empty power armour. So you gotta knock down the whole power armour to get rid of them? Or is it that any hole in the power armour is good enough, but they are resistant to getting said holes (eg a big gun (S6+ AP2) has 42% chance of causing a hole while a small gun (S4 AP5) has 17% chance).

It would probably be helpful if you mentioned the rule you are talking about. . .I'm assuming you're talking about the fact that 1K Sons are going to get a 5+ invulnerable save instead of 2 Wounds?

If so I think you're just thinking to hard. The fact is, Rubric marines are made of MAGIC and MAGIC is resistent to all sorts of real world things in wierd mystical MAGICAL ways.

Tzeentch is a tricky fellow so you never know. . .

. . .but seriously, I think the point is just to make tough slow marines. They could have done it with +1 Toughness, but the DG already have that. The 2 Wounds doesn't work because of the instant death rule and GW's complete inability to factor instant death into the points cost associated with a model having an additional wound.

Because of Instant Death an additional wound on a model should only be around +2 points but instead GW insists on pricing models with extra wounds at roughly +5 points a wound.

The fact is with this rule change perhaps they can finally make 1K Sons actually balanced for their points (because they aren't dealing with the Wounds characteristic anymore).

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

They're 4+ invulnerable, which is quite nice I think. And yes, balanced.

An invulnerable save in this case, I think, represents some sort of magical protection.
