Do you have an old thread in the Modeling & Painting forum that seems more like a blog thread than you originally thought it would and now you feel it should actually be in this P&M Blog forum? Use the moderator alert button (yellow triangle) on the first post, or send a PM to any moderator with a link to the thread and we'll get it moved (if we agree that its appropriate).

Also, you may notice while looking through this forum that some of the very, very oldest blog threads have extra pages at the end of the thread with no replies. This is because the old database sometimes accidentally erased old replies from within threads. It is a tremendous shame that some portions of these threads have been lost but it is exactly the kind of issue we have solved with the most current version of the Dakka forum software.

Quick question: If I already have a topic in THIS FORUM that belongs here, and I have an update to add on to it, is it ok to revive it? Or should I make a new topic?

If it is your original topic, it is fine to revive no matter how old it is.

Another quick question, somewhat related to that, how do I "revive" my topic if I was the last to post in it? It appears the post will just become one with the last post, but the topic won't become updated.

LOL! But seriously I have had the same problem with people commenting. It's not a bad thing some people just like to read your blog and look at the pics and stuff and don't feel they need to say anything about it. I'm sure it is being enjoyed by others so just keep posting and if someone reads or sees something they feel they need to comment on they will. Also be sure you make it clear that you are looking for input from others otherwise some people might think it rude to offer unwanted advice.

Yeah, in general if you want feedback it always helps to ask specific questions and then actually listen and respond to any feedback you get. If you're just looking to showcase what you're doing then you have to expect you're not going to get many replies unless you're doing something that is exceedingly exceptional or unique. However, in general, the more times you continue to post and update your thread, the more people will tend to get invested in it and eventually decide to reply. So in short, keep at it!

This is a painting and modeling blog, so I don't really know how that would work without including pictures. So yes, you need to include pictures in your painting and modeling blog or else it really isn't much of a blog!

I had the same problem as you guys when I stated my blog, (It was so annoying my first page is mostly made up of my posts) What I did is I would visit someone else's blog and put Wow this is soooo good (Or something like that) and then say Hey how about visiting my blog too? (Link is in signature) then it’s up to them to visit your blog. This way has made me a nice long page's worth of text! Another good tip is to (This is what I had to do) perhaps rewrite your first blog post so It really tells readers what you want them to do. -i.e. Hi, this is my blog, I have made this blog because.... and I would really... if you commented on or, if you posted a reply because..... thanks...

Good luck guys and I hope this helps

Btw would you like to vist my blog too?LOL! (Link is in signature)

Floor-ahhh-duhhh!

Question?? Can I create and use just one thread for everything?? Like an all encompassing Thread? Or do I have to make a thread for each project?? Personally I would rather just have one thread for everything. Also do I have to upload the pics to Dakka first?? I ask cause I post on several sites and it is easier for me to use photobucket, but I will go with the flow if I have to upload here first.

Thank you.

Peace.

Yes, its fine to use a single thread for multiple projects of yours (so long as they're all painting and modeling related projects, of course).

Just make sure to update the thread title as you go along telling people which page of the thread the 'new' stuff is on (so that new users know where the current content starts if they just want to jump in right there). If you don't know how to update a thread title, just edit the first post in the thread and change the subject heading, and that will change the thread's title.

You do not have to upload your pics to the Dakka gallery, using external sites like photobucket is fine...however, we do totally allow pics that are uploaded into our gallery to be linked onto other sites, so we feel like a better 'home' for your pics would be with us than photobucket, but ultimately it is up to you.

Alright, I have a question: I have two separate blogs for two different projects, but I am thinking of making a general blog now to minimize bookkeeping on my end. Should I change one of those threads to a generalized one, or make a new one and asks the mods to lock those?

That's really a personal decision. Whichever will be better/easier for you. Just notify us which (if any) threads you'd like to be locked (by using the 'notify moderator' button on a post in that thread).

Hi there! A question is I may...

I am thinking of starting a blog here to showcase some of my crazy (or idiotic) ideas an projects. As it happens some of my projects revolves around bettering my workspace for said painting and modelling.

Would this be considered OK since it is related to the hobby? As an example, at present I am building myself an extended wallshelf for paints so they are easily accessible while painting.

Thanks!

EDIT: Ofcourse the purpose in the long run is to show modelling and painting... but I myself find workspaces very interesting so I thought I might combine the two.

EDIT2: I realize this it the wrong place for this question. But I couldn't think of a better place for now

Yep, as long as it is related to painting and modeling, which a workspace to paint and model is, it should be fine.

Some folks have mentioned merging multiple blogs or projects into one thread.

On the opposite, if I'm working on two different armies, can I run two different threads to assist in searches and to allow people to follow only what interests them?

Looking at the posts and my projects that is my question...I have multi conversion of Ork vehicles (Speed Freaks) ongoing at the same time so is that multiple topics or just one?

Thanks
